2000 RMK Bogging out...

My friend has got 2000 RMK700 that boggs out toward the top end of the powerband. He has taken it to a couple places and had the clutch worked on and the carbs. It basically boggs out and backfires. How do you adjust the timing on these things?

How bad does it bogg out? Like fall on its face, not even enough power to get its self stuck bogg?

Also is it intermittent?

Or really what I mean is will it get full top end power for a couple seconds then go back to bogging out?

That seems about right.Full top end for a brief second then on it's ***.It's hard to remember.The only reason I ask is because I may buy it off him for pretty cheap and fix the trouble.He want's to sell it for about 1000.00.

Does it still have the accs on it? As soon as I took mine off, it solved my backfire problems. The kehin carbs on those sleds were a pain.
