174 turbo sleds

Changed to 42-46 helix, all else the same for this next outing, CrAzY snow here now the last few days and still coming down soon as it stops we go ride
 
I haven't changed anything on the clutching front, I did develop a bit of a random bog that seemed like slow backshift. I spoke with VOHK a tiny bit and based on that conversation I stopped putting a few gallons of AVgas in each tank and only running 91 non ethanol gas. That cleared the bog up and in fact I've since had a few times that I put in 91 ethanol and it seems to be even better.

VOHK told me they have seen the need to change clutching up a bit between a good running turbo and a bad running turbo even if everything seems the same between the two machines.

Just a bit of food for thought, 90% of my riding area is above 10,000' and with the way the snow has been this season I just haven't felt like potentially loosing part of a day to try something that might be slightly better. What I have is honestly so close for me that I'm currently happy.
 
3 days hard riding in deep stuff, 3 turbo sleds all at 8-9 psi, first day the 180-260 (black/yellow) with 48 finish -smoked belt, 25 miles in stupid hot, slipping, next day went to 180-280 (black/orange) with 46 finish, no issues, temp Ok on all sleds, 3rd day no issues, massive pulls at WOT climbing...all good so forget the 48 unless you use probably 300++ pound finish springs....elevation 7000-8000, 8300-8450 max rpm, tracks 163-2.6, 163-3.0, 174-3.0 74 or 76 grams primary all same mountain tec at 8-9 psi, will keep working on it, now more boost :face-icon-small-coo:face-icon-small-coo

all springs +delrin on each side btw......

Before going to more boost... Check your intake temps. Your bullydog has that screen it.
 
Mountain Tech high boost kit, liquid to air, zero issues so far at 15 psi tests on good gas, but i'll check it :)
I also run a MTNTK turbo Package. Intake temps are fairly high with the supplied system at 9LBS. More boost will create more heat. More heat = less dense charge air= less power. Run your Bullydog with the following 4 screens. Boost, Intake temp, PTO timing, Mag timing. Then run some Data logs.

will do,:face-icon-small-coo i'll have to rig it in one of the bags as I do not keep it on the sled, Whats the worst temp you have seen? 250-350 ish? (thats a bit high for our race motors, blown gas deals @ 30 psi) I mostly just read the plugs and if they look good, send it lmao

Yes sir. Everytime we tried a 48 finish rate it becomes a belt eater. The big guy is having good luck with the 42f-46f-er
 
Sorry guys this is off topic but I was m about to build an axys 800 boondocker st. Whats your guys opinions on track length and lug hight. Whats your favorite and why? I was thinking 163 x 3

Run the biggest lug possible. Sleds are like rockets, the more mass you can throw out the back, the more acceleration/force you can generate. If you have wheelie problems, put a longer track on it. This mechanically functions like a longer wrench. The larger the moment arm is, the more force you can generate with it...said another way...the longer the sled, the more force it takes to lift the front. You have a turbo, so take advantage of it's ability to create force. Lastly, if you do the math, more force generating potential is derived with taller lugs than with a couple extra paddles on a longer track.
 
3” tracks work well on the AXYS chassis when track speeds stay below 33 mph.
The tunnel to track clearance, above 33mph, hinders snow evacuation and plays havoc with clutching
3.2” tracks kill belt life.
Cut your Polaris 3” track to 2.7” and you will realize what I’m talking about.
It’s interesting Polaris is now offering a 2.7” track, I’ve been preaching this lug height for some time.
