MY FIX BELOW , 09 800 motor, oil pump cam arm sticking
anyone else experiencing loading with oil at idle, slow speed
the oil pump cam arm does not always fully return when you close the throttle. It looks like the cam might be tight against the post that holds the return spring tail and there is just enough friction that the return spring cannot overcome and close fully. Also, the return spring sort of sits there cockeyed and one wind is up against the cam which also may create enough friction that the spring cannot overcome. might be a casting problem too.
you can see the operation of the cam from the topside.
anybody got a fix? we have a warm spell coming and I want to get this fixed. my oil use is ridiculous and it just sucks when the sled loads up at idle or slow speed. blipping the throttle sometimes gets the cam to fully return but many times does not...doesn't matter whether you let the throttle snap back or let it off gently. Strange 'cause it doesn't hang all the time.B
