SLP pipe and can?

Does anyone know if you need the control module to acheive the claimed 9hp gains for a 17 800 Axys? Also what ceramic coating is prefered? What clutching changes needed to run 4000 to 6000 elevation with pipe and can? Go....

No control module needed, just run non-eth premium fuel 91 octane or greater. Clutching you can use stock springs and helix, weights you will need to go 2-4 grams heavier then stock for your elevation. The sled comes with 10-64's from the factory which might end up being just right with the pipe and 4-6,000ft. The ceramic coating doesnt matter which one you choose, perf is the same. The silver polished will get dull very quick from heat and snow hitting it. Eric

I ran that combo in BC from 4-7000 feet. I finally got the sled going very well at the end of the year. I used the MTX slp weights and the spring they recommend. In the secondary I used the stock spring and the same multi helix as the 15 Pro. I have a 16 163 2.6. I cant wait to try it on my 17 3 inch. Good luck

When I called Slp last week they told me it was very minimal changes to the 17 mapping compared to the 16 was told it was almost identical. So no fuel controller needed

Ran that set up on my AXYS 163 3", just added two grams of weight with stock clutching. It made a noticeable difference I was actually pretty impressed, you won't be disappointed.

I like the black ceramic that is on mine. I am running 68g belly busters pulling 8350ish at 6500 to 7k stock springs and helix

They have a 3rd design out now. No more x or y weld. the egt bung was moved so it falls on 2 welded seams. thats how they are achieving extra support now. I think they even went back to one strap. Eric

Thats true....Just not the whole truth. Dec 31 was the 2nd design and what they sent out for warranty replacement pipes.

Its been changed again since then.

This is the quote from SLP about it.

"We made a change to our Axys pipe at the end of December after some customers experienced cracking around the EGT bung. At that time the changes to the pipe involved a "y" shaped weld around the EGT bung plate. We also added a second band to help isolate harmonics and improve pipe life. Since the change to that design, I have only seen one pipe fail.

Through the snow season last year, we continued testing some other ideas for further improving durability. We put in countless hours and miles testing different options to make sure that what we came out with is the best solution and have since implemented it on the pipes we are now selling.

On our current production pipes, there are 2 new weld tie-ins, a new bung location and a new band location (see attached photo).

Also - we are now building a silencer with an integrated cooker mount. And we are now offering 3 different color options for the ceramic coating we use on our pipes and silencers: Black Satin, Silver Satin and Silver Polish."
