I might be headed to Canada this winter but am constantly reminding myself of all the thefts I read about.
Has anyone used something like this first hand or beard of other people using something like this:

I wonder what kind of cooperation from the authorities I would get if using one?
It would be nice to have o e to throw under the engine or where ever else when you turn in for the night.
 
I was SHOCKED to hear how many sleds were stolen in the Kootenay area right around where I live early season last year, seemed like they were only M8's turbo and N/A, think I heard of some in the Vancouver/Whister area too.

If you are going to take a trip down hear I wouldnt be worried at all, I dont know how you transport your sleds, back of truck, trailer, ect. But if you just have it locked up I see no issues, would you be staying in a hotel? Where ever you stay you can always just park against a wall so people cant just pull it off. If you make it hard enough for someone to steal they likely wont take it.

Seems like all the sleds that were stolen were sitting there for a little while and the people looking to steal them KNEW they would be their the next night, it was well planned for the most part .

Sorry I cant actually answer your questions about those products.
 
It'll be revelstoke where ever powerhouse customs is.
And I'm not sure which trailer, I think mine has better locks. Not sure what my buddies has? Its really his trip though. I'm just along for the ride.
That's besides the point if they want to get in, that's just what going to happen. I consider mine impossible to get by the locks but what about taking the whole trailer! Any thing could happen. And I had stuff robbed in Winnipeg over a decade ago. Just would be nice to have a backup plan.
I don't think insurance covers out of the country theft? I guess I could ask, well and maby put insurance on a sled for the first time since 2000
 
When I went to Revy in April, I was worried about it too.

Then I saw people leaving their trucks/trailers open while they went sledding all day, gear laying all over the place and KEYS HANGING IN THE IGNITIONS!

After seeing that, there's no way my stuff would be a target with all the easy pickings out there.

Food for thought. Insure your stuff, lock it up and have a great time.

Unless you live in a city or well known crime area thats how most of BC is... Keys in the ignition with windows open, garages/houses unlocked, garages with thousands of dollars of toys left open. I must admit though things arnt all good here, last year someone left there car unlocked and someone opened up the door and stole some important things... Lets just say the people who got robbed had to make another trip to the liquor store to get more of what was stolen...
 
I don't know how it has been the last few years, but it used to be pretty common for them to steal the truck, trailer, and whole works. Back in the early 2000s we were on a trip to Revelstoke and made a stop in Golden to ride. We rode two days and on the third day we woke up to the whole she-bang gone. Truck, trailer, and four sleds. We came home in a rental car. The worst part was the conditions were going to be epic that day.
 
I don't know what you guys have been hearing about Canada and theft, but I've maybe only heard of 2 incidents where machines were stolen over the last 18 years. I don't think its anywhere near as bad as you might think. Use your common sense, lock your stuff up and back your trucks in when you park at night. I would worry more about dealing with customs(both)...JMTs

Last season was shockingly bad in BC, specially the kootenays. Multiple turbo m8s I think a trailer with some doos got taken. I think in the whistler area if I remember correctly, and truck and trailer set up was taken around castlegar BC truck was dumped trailer wasn't found. In creston a m8 i believe also turbo was taken. And there's a few more to go on about. But I am willing to bet those were planned and targeted thefts (for the most part) if you lock our stuck like you said and have common sense 99% of people will be fine.
 
I rode Brandywine, Sproat, Seagrams several times this year and never had any reason to be concerned as I rode away from my truck to the trail. However, I didn't leave anything in view and everything in the bed of my truck was locked down w/ 2 heavy duty cables. I tended to be the last one on the trail from my group but I really didn't want my stuff stolen and a few extra minutes sorting things out was 6-8 hours of worry-free sledding.
 
Use common sense and secure your stuff like most people have mentioned. I have never had an issue in BC and I'm there every second weekend.
 
Back to the question I asked.
Has anyone ever used or seen the products I listed in the first post?
Just for an extra sense of security. And knowing you could essentially nail these theives if it did happen. Yes you can replace some things but you feel the need for revenge permanently. One could gain some satisfaction using one if it worked
