Is the DD gasket reusable??

Can you re-use the gasket after splitting the case or do you have to get a new one each time you want to inspect the DD?

The one in mine tore in one spot. I reused it but also used some silicone.

x2 depends on the condition of the gasket. Mine did't tear but i used some gasket sealer when i put it back together. If it tears you may want to get a new one. It is better than haveing to do it all over again.

Mine tore two and I had to buy a new one.

I have to wonder why BDX has never made a fitted rubber replacement gasket like most chain cases have?

Mine didn't tear and I reused it.

Its not really a cheap paper gasket.

Looks reusable to me.

Maybe I will get a new one next time.

If you put a little oil (just a very light film) on the gasket before you install it, it should help keep it from tearing next time you pull the cover off. Don't do without it though, you need it to provide clearance.

Gasket??

Heard of 'um, but never used them. When I split the case, part of my rebuild of course is cleaning the mating surface of old RTV. When puting back together, I use a bead of RTV, vs. an actual factory gasket. Been thru several DD's (isnt that right bggreen

) but not traced back to a bad gasket.

Yes you have.

But not all of them used a gasket. I believe anything older than the 09 case doesn't use one, anything newer than 08 has one.
