Is it worth spending the extra money and buying an 2009 M8 rather than a 2008, or is there not that many differences between the two years?

Also can someone explain whats the differences between the models. Between the Snowpro le, the snowpro, and just the plain m8

I have never ridden an 08 but, according the snowmobile magazines the 09 M8gets the most improved mountain sled award for 09.

There's a 22 lb weight drop between the the 08 and 09 for identical sleds. The weight loss came from all over the sled. Each part had to re-apply for its job. Some being from cross shafts and rear skid changes but most coming fron the deletion of reverse from the diamond drive (8 lbs).

One of the biggest differences is the powerclaw track. It works so well, it's like cheating but, some of the dealers are offering to install it on the 08s to make them more appealing.

The LE was a spring order only sled. They came in Black urban camo and I hear came with a factory Boss seat (but, I have seen some that don't have it). They also have a titanium primary spring and perhaps a front rear skid shock spring?

The Sno Pro and the LE get the Fox floats all the way around (except the front rear skid shock), the VSB telescoping handlebars, the white paint job and the premium gauge package.

Standard M8 153 466 lbs
Sno Pro 153 464 lbs (due to Fox Floats)
153 LE 456 lbs (due to Boss seat)

Add 2 lbs for a 162" track.

Good luck

I have the M8 LE. It does not come with a boss seat, it comes with a black seat with a big star inside a circle on both sides. but it had the same option as the sno-pro you get $300 or a Boss seat. I took the Boss seat well worth the money. The M8 LE has a titainium primary spring, the camo, only comes in 153" and it cost $200 more than the sno-pro.

Go with the 09, the diamond drive with reverse 07-08 is not so durable. and the powerclaw is un-real. Also the rear heat exchange on the 07-08 hangs below the back bumper a few in. If some one ran into the back of your sled it would destroy the heat exchange. The 09 heat exchange is in a better location and the rear tunnel is better for the deep snow. So far the adj. handle bar riser is great also.

If money isnt an issue go with an 09 there quite a bit better (track makes huge difference), but if your looking to save some big $ buy an 08. I just bought a 08 M8 Snopro with 900 miles on it for $6200, including a brand new cover. You're looking at just over $9000 for an 09 right now.

I bought a 09 sno pro, ride with 08 ones, no comperison. Get a 09

I just bumped my new this year 08 m8 to 160 hp it looks like i will be running with the 2010 now and spanking the 09 it gave me a good feeling to know all that money saved is finally paying off, just wait till i do what i am going to do this summer it will be every bit as good as a 2010 only about 20 lbs lighter, The 08 is a good machine too they just needs some tlc and they work very well.

my 08 m8 is a strong runner, but the seat is to lo and the non adjust bars need help. have a boss coming and i think i will put a shorter stearing shaft from a o6 crossfire and a adjustable riser of some kind to make it better. jim

You can run a 2"3"4" or some say 5" riser no need to change shaft or wiring, i use 3" its good for me i am 6' 220 and its fairly strong made for AC by power madd or something.

is there much difference between the 07 and 08?

Yes there is a difference. I'm not sure what is wrong with the 07 M8 but it can have the same mods as an 08 M8 and the 08 will still win. The 07 M8 was getting beat by the 06 M7's. Oh yeah don't forget the 07 melted everything under the hood.
