ZX2 in custom tunnell on RX/Apex

Anybody got a ADBoivin ZX2 suspension in a custom tunnell, like Van Amburg or cr?

What did you order for Mounting kit? I think they use new drop downs on the ZX2 and I don't think you mount it in the stock holes of the original tunell? Please enlighten me...

did you have to modify them alot? Is the stock dropdown brackets on that tunnel used? Is the stock dropdown brackets in the same position on that tunnel as it is on the oem tunnel?

Thanks....

QV, what length of skid/track? how much of a setback is that? Nice approch angle!

Dont know about the ZX2 but from my experience the ExpertX is one of the best all around skids out there! Im sure the ZX2 will be no diffrent.

The skid is a 151" ( the longest they make right now) with a set back of 5.5 inches, to fit the 162x16x2.5 camoplast track. it is installed with the measurments derived from the calculatoins they give in the universal mounting kit. I only had to trim the mounting plates, to match the tunnel properly and make the em look better. the mounting locations are alot different than the stock locatoins. I had to do some other extra calculating to compensate for the drop and roll, but it was pretty straight forward.

i sure hope they have the apex kit worked out cause the nytro kit is way out to lunch . what kind of shock were you running in the skid that worked for you ?

I know a couple of guys that are running these in RX-1's with great success...Stock shocks... I think because of the design on this suspension, it's more suitable for the older chassis that the rider forward on the Nytro/XP/IQR chassis sleds... I was first going to put it in my REV mod, then my Nytro, but looking at it, and talking to other guys running it, I decided to put it in my RX-1... If anybody knows if it works well in any other chassis let us know....

That's because AD was sending out shorty mount kits for the MTX's because they don't actually have an MTX mounting kit.

they now have a mtx mounting kit and it still doesnt work well. it sits way too low , not only the back but the running boards to . so i made my own and it stits nicely but it still wheelies way too much and is hard to turn . they have been pretty helpfull though with trying difrent shocks and things like that . when i buy a skid though i want it set up when i go out riding i dont want to play with it every time and it still not work .

i believe im sick has one in a apex with a custom tunnel
and he said he loves it transfer very well

obr... The pic that Quantum Velocity posted is my apex. Beautiful install he did and I really like the way it works. It has alot of flex to it, so you have to get used to it, but once you do....

It's installed in a cr tunnel and I really haven't gotten to play with the different settings much, but so far so good!! My last ride I tried to break it, couldn't get it done!
I also run the track way looser than normal... when you push down on the track above the rails, you can push it right down to the top of the rails. It's loose. But it never ratcheted on me in heavy snow.

thanks, your sled looks great....I'm not sure what I'll do on the tunnel part...I just got a shorttrack rx-1 with blown motor, and I've got the 144" zx-2 in my shop, so I'll stick it in there..might just get a 144" tunnell extention from hartman and build the motor and turbo this year...Is there any REAL benefit from those tunnells? Weight? Is that it?

I cant tell ya what the benefit is. Mine got changed because my stock one had damage from sucking a rock in. But there is the weight savings and the look. If you want to change your tunnel... talk to Jeff at Quantum. They have their own one piece design now, looks pretty cool, and functionally looks like it will work great. Timing just wasn't right to build mine with it.

that sled looks amazing!!! Very well done. One thing tho just the look of that skid makes it seem heavy. what is weight in comparison to stock or other skids? It just looks freakin solid

I can't tell you the weight.... never really worried about it. I know it's lighter than the stock skid just based on picking it up, but I don't have an actual weight comparison. I'll see if I can get a weight.

you lose a couple of lbs so its not that bad. It looks like an 80lb skid, good thing they opted for composite.

Whats your opinion on the install and mobility of the sled Quantom Velocity? Would you recommend them to others?
