Right now i have a 2001 ZX 144 and I'm wondering if I'll gain anything with going to a 2004 REV 800 144. Just wondering if there's anything to gain with it or if it will still get stuck just as easily as my ZX.

Just put a 16 wide on the ZX. My kid has one and he won't give it up for a Rev. The ZX actually floats better in the deep snow due to the wider belly pan. I like the 16 wide x 144 way better than the 15 x 151. Less push and way more fun. My kid outclimbed a REV with a 154 XP track on it 2 weeks ago. My kid is 100 lbs. soaking wet though. The Rev will ride a bit better.

Do it! The rev chassis is way better in deep snow, and less fatiguing for the rider. The 16 inch wide track on it will help it crush the 144 zx. I WISH my xp was half as reliable as my old zx 144 was though. You will love the rev!

i let my buddy ride my rev, he loves the ZX cuz it can take a hit and like others said, the belly pan rides across the snow realy good.

like he said though, in his words, "i would buy a new chasis just to keep from getting beat to he77 on the trail in and out." his sled is totally modded and actually rides really nice in the deep snow, i like the way it handles, but it kicks his a$$ after a long day of riding.

Okay. I was kinda leaning more towards the REV but wanted to get more opinions from people who have riden them both. How many miles do you need to start looking for things on the REV's. The one i found has 1927 miles on it.

Floatation aside, you would be getting a whole new kind of chassis. And if you ask me light years ahead. The rider forward chassis of the REV compared to the old "sit down" style sled is uncomparable. Makes for a much more enjoyable time on the snow. It'll make you feel like a rockstar too. :D

^ X2. I switched 2 years ago from an 01 Highmark X. Just DON'T lean back when boon docking or pullin a climb. Have fun!:beer;

03 to 06

The wife went from a 03 ZX 700 151 to a 06 144 X , huge difference for her, wants to ride in more difficult places ;) not near as tired at the end of the day and the bonus to me is less time looking for her to dig her out :rolleyes: She rides way better on the Rev. More fun for both of us!!! Dino

I,ve got both right now, 99 670x 144 boss rox riser d/r kit and a 05 800x 144 holtz skid team clutch. I know the 99 is not a zx but close, when I ride the rev for a weekend then hop on the old iron it feels like you really have to work the old sled to get it move like a rev. You wont be disapionted with the rev, still a great sled!!

How did you know I was going to chime in on this!?:D Yes, I really like the REV/RT platform for the road, but in all honesty, I have my ZX working sooooo well in the deep I can't see myself switching anytime soon. It does take a toll on you going down the trail, but, I really like the weight distribution/flotation/logging ability of the older chassis. Depends on what is comfortable, taller seat and big risers was the cure for me!

In a straight up soft snow climb, that rev will walk away from your 01', the 01's suffered from poor attack ange(which I fixed in mine by doing a skid set-back) that really didn't help them, they also didn't have the BEST track under them and were about 25 lbs heavier. A better race would be against a 02/03 zx that had the better track and better attack angle.

Yes, I'm sure that if I spent more time on a REV that I would really like it, but instead of buying a newer chassis, I have about half the money into a sled that has proven itself to be bulletproof and still run right along side of/beat the newer sleds, and most importantly, VERY comfortable boondocking.

Maybe it's time for you to upgrade, ride a REV chassis and see how you like it, if you don't(like I did for the most part!), then spend the money making your sled work better. Take this "essay" for what it's worth, but I'm still a firm believer in the zx!:)
