your honest opinion- 01 summit 800

I had one loved it. Had every mod u could do then I was forced to get a REV or be left behind.

One of the best mods for those is the setback of the rear skid.

The '02 had several improvements, unless it's a great deal and super clean I would hold out for a '02-'03.
It will likely need....piston rings and reed cages

Unless it is a great deal, I would find an 02 or 03 with the HO engine. You will get a sled with more power, increased reliability, better clutching and a lot more fun to ride.

I have one and absolutely love it. Have never had a single problem with it.
Have used it as a backup for last few years. It is for sale BTW has 968 miles on it and is in VERY good condition.

I also have an '01 Summit for a backup to my 900 Kk and catch myself riding it quite often. Not because the cat is by any means a slouch but the Summit handles great and is a bit more fun to ride. Negatives would be that it is lower to the ground up front and tends to porpoise thru the snow instead of riding on top. I did add some 6.9 pilots over the summer hoping to help out in the flotation dept. Like others have mentioned, find out if the rings have been repalced or not. If not, make it a must do item if you decide to get it. If the price is right, I think you will be very happy with this sled.

Also, if you aren't sure what the problem is with the rings that everyone talks about, check out the link below as it does a great job of showing you what happens to the stock doo rings plaguing many of the ZX and Rev 800's.

If you buy the 01, this is what you should spend your money on:

156 Camoplast Challenger
Big John clutch setup
Skid relocate
Tunnel Extension to 151 stock Doo
Can

These alone will make it better than any 02/03 stocker. Trust me these are the bomb.

Make sure you either have the new rings/cylinders/rebuilt engine !

That sled will rock !

My 01 700 has been great. Only trouble has been the pull cord and a couple of fouled plugs. It will be a sad day when it does finally wear out. I bleed SkiDoo yellow, but the Revs just don't do it for me. JMO.
