This weekend I am installing the following mods to by 2007 M1000 with the 09updates. What numbers on the attitude box should I be running? Thanks in advance

RKT 14.5-1 head
Speed works Y pipe
SLP can
(keeping the stock pipe)
attitude fuel box

I don't think you can use someone else's numbers because every sled seem to have different fuel pressure. You have to start high(rich) and work your way down. You will need to check your plugs and I would recommend egt gauges.

I am pretty sure that no one else is running this exact combo of mods so I know I wont get the exact numbers. I just wondering what numbers will get me close and then I can adjust from there. I am looking at getting some egt's guages. Any one have some for sale for cheap?:face-icon-small-hap

I am assuming you are riding above 8000' with that head? Not sure on your altitude. You just need to run 91-92 octane gas with the head. As far as your sled with just a Y pipe and can, at that high altitude what makes you think you even need a box? I have full SLP exhaust with Timbersleds and I only add fuel to the Red (main jets) at 5-8K. That '09 update is really fat down low. I would mount the box but leave it unplugged and just check plugs a couple times riding. It only takes about 2 minutes to plug the 3 connectors in on the box. Good luck.

We ride from 8,000 to 10,000 usually. I have have been told by several dealers and mod shops that I will burn down if I dont add fuel so I figure that $150 for a used attitude box is allot cheap than a new top end. Maybe if I get some gauges I will leave the box unplugged and see what it does. Thanks for the suggestion.

Well, I would normally say to add a little fuel in the middle (yellow light) and on top (red light) to start out, but at your altitude with the stock pipe I think you would foul plugs. Like I said, mine is stock settings or off on the bottom and mids and I am only 5-8K. You have to remember the dealer and box makers are going to be super conservative on there advice to us. They want us to be stupid fat to cover there butts. If you have a fuel pressure regulator, just leave the box unplugged the first time you go up and turn your pressure up to around 48psi and go down from there. Whatever you do, you have to check plugs anyways.

If you already have the box I would definitely start with it plugged in. I would rather foul plugs than burn down. Start rich and keep turning it down. If you end up turning it all the way down then unplug it and try running without it. If that works, unplug it and keep it for when you add a pipe (you know you will someday).

Here are Attitudes recommended settings for stock and intake/can.

Stock:
Green: 1
Yellow: 1.5
Red: 1.5
Yellow/Blue: 4.5
Red/Blue: 7

Intake/Can:
Green: 1.5
Yellow: 2.5
Red: 3
Yellow/Blue: 4.5
Red/Blue: 7

I would start with the intake/can settings or maybe a little richer. Remember, the yellow/blue setting is pulling fuel across the whole RPM range, so some parts of the RPM range may be leaner than stock.

whoa!! hoally shiiat batman.........a trim setting of 4.5???

the most i've seen of heard of was 2.5, even attitude has a disclaimer on the setup sheet that more than "2" will result in potential damage/lean burn down..

otherwise i agree w/ all said above, the 09 flash is fat in the bottom, so i ended up running no addition fuel in the bottom, 1/2 in mid, and the 1.5 to 2.5 in the red, depending on hill conditions. The 08 flash was +1.5, +2, +2.5 roughly..

As far as, blue/yellow light=trim, i never went past 2.5 for fear of melting down, becuase it is a SUBTRACTION value.

Are you sure about that 4.5??

good thread tho!!

I run at 4-5 on the yellow/blue with no issues. You have to remember that the fuel pull on the Attitude box is very minute. I'm talking like a 4% pull and that is it. Why in the h*ll would you want to even run a box if you don't need to? Run the pressure up to 48psi and check plugs every 1/2 mile for a while. You cannot get it where you need the box and than just unplug it. You will burn it down that way because of the advance timing the box calculates in. At your altitude, I almost guarantee you that you do not need a box without a pipe if you raise your fuel pressure up and it runs fine from there without loading up down low.

Pretty sure about 4.5. I have mine at 4. I think the box is a good addition whether you need it or not for mods. You can make a stock sled run better with one. If you're someone who's always trying to get alittle more out of something then you'll like it. If you don't you can join the "fuel controler hater club". Mine ran good with stock settings, then I started to mess w/ the adjustments and went from good to great. It was a very noticeable differance. When conditions change I might change the settings to dial it in. Just go with the settings above and tune from there. Egts make this real easy and fast.
