For those that have been, or did run, a yeti with the 21mm belt, failure prone or not? I'm not real aggressive (over 60) rider and yeti kit will be on 18 500 exc-f. Upgrade to 28mm necessary? I do very little jumping and never dump the clutch. How many have run 21 mm trouble free? Thanks

My riding buddy missed a 1-2 shift by hitting neutral and as soon as he slammed it back into 2nd the belt snapped. Relatively easy thing to do and he is not an aggressive rider at all. I would suggest if you never shock loaded the 21mm like he did in this case you would be fine but it certainly can happen. As long as you carry a spare 21mm or two you would probably be fine.
I have not seen a 28mm belt break.

Used the 21MM for the first year with no problems. When they came out with the 28MM I just did the upgrade. Have an extra 21MM belt or maybe two if your interested.

I had one of the first Yeti’s from ‘15. Putting a barrel of fuel through my bike a year. Roughly 80 horse. Still on the first belt. If you have it tensioned properly you will have zero issues.

I have a 16 Yeti on a 570 Husaberg with a 21 mm belt, 2 seasons on a
The same belt, I keep it tensioned, no trouble so far, but also carry a spare. I also don't jump or do anything too crazy.

I ran a 21mm on a 16 129 on a 450sx. Fairly aggressive rider who is prone to breaking $hit. Belt lasted all season, was on for a season before with original owner and is still kicking with the new owner. Proper alignment and tension is the real issue. IMHO

21 or 28 mm belts

Kit track speed is the belt killer with sudden changes effecting belts. You'll be fine if you pack a spare and don't hot rod on the hard pack trails.

I have both wide and narrow with no failures with either. Tension correctly and riding smart will will benefit, Holding bike wide open and dumping clutch will wear on any bike.
