Went riding today and first of all let me say that there is one helluva lotta Snow up there!

Now for the part that wasn't so much fun.
I started the sled as usual and let it warm up for a few and then shut it down while I was getting my gear ready.

When I went to start it again, it didn't fire off on the first pull which is normal but when I went to give it the second pull it didn't catch, it just free wheeled out to full extention but it would recoil back in just fine.

I experimented a bit and found that if I gave a slightly quick jerk on the handle I could get the starter to engage and then pull for all I was worth and it would start just fine.

It did this a few more times out on the hill but always started and did not always NOT engage.??? Sometimes it engaged just fine.

Any thoughts? What should I look for? How do I fix it ??!!

Just buy a new recoil. Ive heard how to repair em, just a pain in the drain. Welcome to Doo...Dino

It's not really a pain to rebuild it, but if the plastic shaft is scored and the (new) metal clip is not positioned correctly .... it could explode on ya. (I learned the hard way). A new recoil is more dependable.
