As a big Met's fan I really disliked the Yankees. But I did go to many games at the Stadium and they were always fun. That stadium was very cool. Sad to see it go.
that place was a crap hole... very disappointing, probably the worst ball park i have ever been too. Rich in history, but just a crappy dump.

It may have been a dump,but the history was unreal....to me tearing down yankee is like tearing down the green monster or wrigley.
Now Shea I can understand and I will have no soft spots when the Twins close the Dome.

Wow, it always looked good on TV. I was questioning why they didn't remodel (like Lambou Field). Maybe this is the reason.
In all the times I have been there, that has never come to my thoughts.
They have remodeled the stadium several times.
I had wanted to go to a game there since the early 70's, when I first knew what baseball was. Thankfully I got to see a game there in 2006...complete with Mariano slamming the door on a 1-0 Yanks victory.
Personally I didn't notice if it was a dive or not. Going to a game there is all about the dogs, the history, the players and especially sitting with the fans. Hearing Yankee fans boo A-Rod was epic. It's the experience of being there that really mattered to me.
