I need the Yammi Guru expertise here
i bought a 1993 yamaha Phazer in Billings Montana and plan on bringing it up to Canada, however there is no month of manufacturer anywhere on the sled, so i was hoping that someone might be able to tell if the VIN # might identify the month and year of manufacture.
I have to prove it is 15+ years old to bring it across the border with only a bill of sale. if it is one day newer than 15yrs, I have to go through the RIV program, and a bunch more hoops.
93 Yamaha Phazer VIN # 8AM-001530

Thanks in advance

I could not find anything on that VIN#. Verify the number and PM it to me and I may be able to help.

That does not look like a S/N. Keep looking. The tenth number in the VIN is the year.

double checked

I have a picture of the VIN # its correct...9 digits
it corresponds with the 90 phazer as well.
90 Phazer VIN # - 87F-001621
93 Phazer VIN # - 8AM-001530

many thanks for your help all!

does the sled have a title?? I went through the same thing on a couple o f1976 yamaha exciters that I bought(these sleds were MINT) owner didn't have titles, so I went to dmv to do new titles up, and the vin numbers on tunnel could never be brought up in the system. It was such a gong show going back and forth that I ended up selling the units and being done with it. If you got a good enough deal on them, just deal with the riv. it's only 205 bucks and pm me for info and I'll help you get through and inspected within a week.

he has the titles

fortunatly he has the titles, did you have the problem when trying to register the 76 sleds? just wondering because I have never registered a sled before and dont intend on registering these either.

many thanks

my problem was there wasn't a title to import them. I couldn't bring them across period. I went to dmv down in montana to do a lost title/transfer dealio, and could never get a straight answer. It sucked selling these sled, they were awesome. I'm guessing that you have talked to riv already with the info that you have given. I'll try and give that vin to one of the dealers I deal with and see if she can come up with something. she's great at that kind of stuffs. i'll let you know tomorrow.
