Yamaha V-Max maintenance

My boss asked me to give his 1995 Yamaha MountainMax V-Max 600 a tuneup before the snow arrives. I'm a Polaris guy and haven't looked at Yamaha's before. Other than plugs, oil, and fresh gas, are there any specific areas that I should be checking out on this sled? I listed the model info shown on the bodywork. Is that actually what it's called?

TIA

your on the right track with plugs, fuel, etc. fire it up and see if it needs carbs cleaned. hit all the grease joints, change the chain case oil, check the belt, clean the clutches, kick it out of the shop. it was unoficially refered to as the mountain max that year, should have a stv or dxv distinction somewhere.

Follow up:

After he took the sled up to the snow hill, he said it ran fine, didn't overheat or anything but a 'Diagnosis' light on the dash is blinking. Without a manual, where should he start troubleshooting to find out the cause?

The sled doesn't have a battery installed (iirc it's electric start). Could not having the battery cause this issue?
