Yamaha Phazor Questions

Im considering buying a phazor for my wife and had a couple questions... I really don't want to spend much so I'm thinking of doing an '07. Were there any major issues with these? Would the sled have enough power for me to use as a back up? Do they all come with electric start/reverse? Basically, is it a good wife sled? :)

Good sled for the wife for sure. As for your backup sled....if it gets deep you will be dissapointed, just not enough power. I have a 2007 phazer mtn lite. I'll jump on it once in a while its a hoot to ride on the trail and maybee in a foot of powder on a firm base. If its bottomless powder you will be in big trouble.

As for the 2007....they all have electric start/reverse. There were several updates on the 2007, none of which are a big deal. Get the VIN number and call a yamaha dealer to find out if the updates have been done. there was a small ground wiring harness update. Also a cold start update that only matters if its really cold (sub zero temps). Maybee a few other little things i cant remember. You can pick these sleds up pretty cheap and its a great sled for GF or wife. and being a 4 stroke the wife won't reek like a chainsaw after she's done riding. And the electric start is huge for the girls.

One thing i would reccomend is put a tether on it. You just have to be careful if she tips it over the engine gets shut off. if you run it upside down you can do some serious damage to the engine(the one i bought was blown up from this and i put a new engine in it). its no big deal if you roll it over just make sure you let it idle for a minute or two after getting it back upright to get the oil pressure back. DO NOT just immediately rev it up and take off after it was upside down. I am very familiar with these sleds...PM me if you have any more questions. Hope this Helps!

If you actually want your wife to ride with you, do not buy a 2007 or up Yamaha Phazer. Polaris or Arctic Cat with 600 cc displacement engines will be a much better wife and back up sled than a Phaser POS. With a Phaser she will be either forever stuck or laying on her side with the sled on top of her.

I got my girlfriend an 07 phazer with all the updates done this season as her first sled, and though it is a reliable fun sled (for me when I decide to ride it), I regret not going a different direction now. She finds it way too tippy even after adjusting the suspension, and it is not very good in deep snow (found this out last weekend).

I can throw the sled around a lot better than she can, and I love it for playing around the trail, but I think she would have been better off with an M7 or something similar.

Simmons skis on the phazer help a lot for stability and reducing the tippy feel on the trail. Just the standard simmons, NOT the gen 2 or 3.

Actually the gen 2 are awesome on the MTX phazer that and remove the sway bar and no more tip over. With the big skis the frond end floats and makes deep snow performance way better. Downside is it does not carve at all anymore but the wife or GF will like it much saver for a novice that way.

Disagree. The gen 2's are unbelievably hard to turn on the trail. Not good for a girl unless she is a bodybuilder. I agree they are good in the powder but her arms will be toast from the trail ride before she gets to the powder. Gen 3's are very hard to turn also.

my girlfriend loves her phazer!! turn key and go it always starts! plus you dont have to rebuild it every other ride like those 600's

Phazer

My gf loves hers as well. She has ridden various sleds and really likes the phazer. She likes the windshield when its cold out, and likes it off for spring riding. Good trail sled and that's right where we keep her.
