Y-pipe bolts came out when ridding, blew gasket out. Should I pull the head?

Hide to ride back to the trailer about 3-4 miles with the y-pipe gasket blown out after the bolts rattled out mid ride. Is there any potential for damage to the sled, or just a loose of performance?

i would think it could lean out with the lack of exhaust gasket...but maybe not. check the compression throw a new gasket on check for piston scarring and ride it

I would pull the head and look over the pistons. Yes it can cause a lean condition and issues with that. If nothing else check your compression at least.

Replace the bolts with stainless ones and nordlock washers. You can get them at Fastenal. If they don't have the metric ones the 1/4" ones will do.

I also like to use blue loctite for extra insurance.

Thanks guys, there was no audible lean out sounds (ie lean backfire) so I'm hoping it's alright. I have new bolts, with lock washers and will be using locktite of course. Hmm don't have a compression tool though I guess I'll need to pick one up. Hopefully it will be fine for the rest of this season. I was planning on doing a top end this summer regardless. On the plus side I found a 5mm swivel headed allen socket.. so the install isn't going to be a nitemare! yaa for proper tools!

Should be fine, I would just put it back together. New gaskets and Nordlocks washers......retorque after 1st ride and you'll probably never have it come loose again.

I agree, you'll be fine. You can look at the front of the cylinders but I bet they look just fine. Put it back together and run it.
