As much as I did not want to make this a public deal we will be posting the Modrods side. Maybe mt fit will stop crying and sicking his pals on our posts. Hopefully this will set the story straight and we can get on with our lives.

So here's our side ......

Well, I guess it's time to comment now that Bill has decided to actually use his own screen name and not one of his many other screen names he uses to bash his competition.

The first part of his statement is pretty much true. I had known Bill pretty well for about a year when I decided to start a snowmobile-related business. My brother and I came up with a mudflap idea. At some point we mentioned this to Bill who thought the idea was great and offered his CNC Router in its down-time for us to use. We then drew up a prototype, Bill programmed it, and I cut them. Bill never did charge us, however, it's not that we didn't try to pay him. We offered to pay every time, we told him to give us a bill and that we need to pay something, and he never did. Please don't complain about not getting paid when you had every opportunity to bill me.

I decided to become a dealer for Bill late one night after hearing Bill's story on how broke he was and that he couldn't even afford to buy the materials he needed to make his products. We had just launched our website and thought it would be a great way to up our product list. Within a couple of nights of becoming a dealer I made my first post on this forum, under my old screen name Jonnyrod, that we had become a dealer for Mountain Fit Hoods. Within one day of that post I received multiple pm's from fellow SnoWest members saying that I was absolutely crazy to sell products from Mountain Fit Hoods, that his reputation was one of the worst in the snowmobile industry. The next day I told this to Bill and to my surprise he told me to start making my own vent toppers and to sell them as my own. He also told me that he had a Canadian distributor that was doing the same thing and that it was working well for him.

From that point on that is what we did. It pretty much ended the Mountain Fit bashing we were getting. On occasion people would ask if we were making the vents. When people would ask, we would say Mountain Fit Hoods was our distributor. We never lied about the maker of the vents.

It didn't take us long to see that the Mountain Fit Hoods reputation had not changed. It was very difficult to get product from Bill in a timely manner. We would pretty much have to go see him every night and hound him to get our orders filled. It got real old hearing the same old story that he had no money. At one point Bill was multiple hood orders short of filling our order because he couldn't buy the plastic he needed to make them. I even offered to buy the plastic for him so I could get my order filled. It was then that I learned that he had pissed off his plastic supplier so bad that they would no longer carry the plastic he needed because he could never pay for what he ordered. That's why his hood quality has gone down. He needs a very specific size plastic to make good hoods and his supplier won't carry it any more. So he is forced to use what they do carry. He has a hell of a time forming the new plastic so getting a hood on time is next to impossible. Plus the hoods are of lower quality so I started getting a lot of complaints. And Bill did not seemed to be bothered by the fact that our customers were not satisfied with the quality of the products they were receiving. This is the kind of routine crap you have to deal with when vending for Mountain Fit Hoods. We had even pre-paid for a good deal of hoods just so Bill could buy his materials so he could fill other orders with people. We even had to pay for his booth space at last year's Puyallup show to later be traded out in product because he couldn't pay for it. He did trade us out, but as a vendor, this is something you should not have to do. Jumping through this many hoops can only last for so long, and I'm sure Bill could sense our frustration.

It seems like the more product we sold, the more frustrated Bill was getting and the longer he would take on our orders. Come to find out, Bill was planning on relaunching his website which he had shut down a while back because of all his customers he had pissed off by not sending them product they had ordered. You'll notice that he lost his .com because of another failure to pay his bill. "Great Business Man!"

So it was no surprise to me when we went to Bill with a new vent design for the M series that he told me to eat it. At that point I decided to go ahead with our design and have it cut elsewhere. Needless to say, that was pretty much the end of a so-called good relationship with Mountain Fit Hoods. Not long after the release of our new vent at the Spokane show, Bill cut us off in the middle of a huge order. And it was also on the day of his new web release.

At that point we had to make a decision to either lay down and die as a business or figure out how to do it ourselves. We knew that we couldn't possibly do any worse than Bill so we decided to create our own vent line. I know Bill has accused us of stealing his designs. We make our own designs, however, some of them look very close because there just isn't any other option. You can look at all the vent vendors on the market and you will see that all vents are very close in shape and placement. The sleds just don't permit a lot of variety.

Losing Bill as a friend truly sucks. We never intended for things to end as they did. However, losing Bill as a business associate couldn't have been a greater thing for making our business work.

Bill has a long history of running businesses into the ground due to horrible customer service. It's too bad we can no longer go back to the old SnoWest forum boards and look at the countless posts regarding Bill's terrible service. With that said, the end of our business relationship couldn't be a better thing. Our customer service is #1 at ModRods and we can now offer it with certainty.

Sorry about the rant and rave session, but for Bill to call me out on so-called bad character really pisses me off. I'm not the guy that bashes the holy hell out of my competition under other screen names, only to go to shows and expos and hang out with them like nothing was wrong. Real nice, huh? We've tried to help Bill in multiple ways regarding his business, but it's hard to help a guy that doesn't even want to help himself.

I dont see why you would have the need to call mtn fit, we all know your friends with and ride with the modramrod guys, they should have everything you need. And none of us are bashing anyone we are just telling it how it is, and if were wrong have them get on here and tell us how it was, for the world to see. With them not saying anything or pointing out how they think we are wrong, its just showing everyone there true colors.

Its funny the first 4 people that got on this post and praised how great they are, are all there friends and riding buddies, and they might have had 1 or 2 actual satisfied customers say anything good.

I promise you I have never rode with any of them....nor am i friends with them..

So the guy from Minnesota rides with the modrod guys? I find that hard to believe. I've never rode with any of the modrod guys, nor do I know of any of this information. The small amount that I've been around them they seem like stand up guys.

You are correct sir...

Brad thank you for clearing that up...Its good to hear that from you

I am ediditng this because of my old post..Bill PMed me and asked for my buddies contact info and wanted to resolve the issue, great on Bill.

So I contacted my buddie who moved to college, who is still there to see if this was still the case...Bill did come through and get the hood to him, and straghtened out payment.

This was before he went to school so that was the last I heard. Good on ya bill for clearing it up.

great product and people that actually answer the phone when you need it. keep on keepin' on modrods....:beer;

I liked the design of the mtn fit vents and the price was good. I called three times this summer, left a message each time asking for someone to call me back so I could place an order. No one ever called so I moved on to find vents somewhere else. I really don't care who stole who's ideas, I just want someone to answer the phone or call me back.

warranty on hoods from last years show

So since you brought up bad craftsmanship,i barely rolled my machine on its side last year and i was pissed, especially after buying the fancy vent on top.a nice crack right up the back right edge .and i take care of my stuff 1m to m hood.and its not because of a bad cut or radius.there was a thread here a bit back on there durability and i stated my problem.im not knocking products at all its actually a cool idea it saved me about 17 pounds which was good for the tank i actually wanted to buy another one for my m1000 but if thats all it takes ill ruin my stocker and tie it together

I bought a set of vents from xxxmodrods last year. Shipping was lightning fast, Vents were nice and a great price. No complaints. See them advertising, have fast quick service. I would say lesson learned for Mountain Fit. He got them started and the way it sounds as though he is not taking care for his own business. When I paid my hard earned money for something I want good support and fast service. XXXMODRODS Delivered! And sounds to me like they felt bad for using mountain fit so they went elsewhere and are probally paying a good price for large quantities. Only makes sense. Enables them to handle the customer service. Would gladly buy again from them. Mountain fit on the other hand, I think I heard of you years ago. But have not for a while. No advertising, I am on the forum all the time and don't hardly ever see your product mentioned. If I wanted to I could buy a hood from you copy it exactly and sell it for $10 less than you. Still would make an arm and a leg, All I would have to do is market it well and do good honest business. I think it is time to pull up your sally pants and quit crying. Get your game together!

Don't know about the other guy, but modrods delivered the goods fast and cheap to me - In Norway. Great customer service, and well made vents.
Will definately buy from them again. Keep up the good work.

Funny how mtn fit hoods has time to come on here and bash people but never time to pick up the phone when you call them

Thats odd, I called and ordered vents from mountain fit on friday. I had first contacted xxxmods about there vents for the RT but got an " I'm too busy type of answer " not rude but rather then help me I felt dismissed. When I called mountain fit, he was super nice and helpfull, we even ended up talking about the up coming expo in puyallup for a while and that was late in the day on the friday before a three day.

After my dealings with both I got great service from mountain fit, and hope the vents for my RT1000 are just as good.

ive bought the modrod vents and really liked em.sounds to me like its somebody thats mad cause ya wiped out thier 120 % markup ta make money.Which requires less customer service.Sleddin needs alot more of this to make it more affordable imho..

I ordered vents from these guys last year for my sled. I called mtnfithoods but no answer, no answer, no answer. Third time was the charm and called I believe it was brian I talked to and even talked to him at like 6 or 7 0'clock in the evening. Was great to deal with. Even held off the stenciling on the brushed alluminum side vents. Vents shipped out in great time and all fit well. Will definately order more products from these guys. I actually wish these guys carried more products. Thank you xxxmodrods for great dealings with me!

acs47x Please pm me with your Friends contact info and we see if we cant straighting out this problem. Not sure why we would of ever shipped a order minus a hood or charged some one 500.00 for a set of panels and a hood that we sell for 325.00 normal price, if this did happen and we can find a record of the card transaction i will gladly send your Friend his refund.

Second I would like to point out that i too got my start by copying Br Techs product, the difference being I never met Brock before starting building my product, nor ever visited his business, nor even had a clue about thermal forming. I started for scratch, built my own equipment, and found a way to offer a similar product for much less money.

I had hoped that this wouldn't become a pissing match between a couple of school girls but no so luck so.

Now that is out of the way and we are done with haydays lets clarify some of Brads statements.

Yes on one occasion i did make a post using someone else's user name. The post was in response to a dig at one of my products and i was pissed, my post became a personal attack on someone else not their product. I was wrong in doing so and will apologize to this person face to face the next time we meet. This was the only time this happened and i have never bashed on anyone else's products on this or any other forum.

I never charged modrods for using my cnc, but it became apparent they were not willing to pay for this service when they wanted a copy of the cnc file so they could pay some else to cut their flaps, I asked them what the file was worth to them and they maid it clear they were not willing to pay for it.

At no time did I ever encourage modrods to re-label my products, I turned a blind eye to the fact, but never encourage it.

Almost on a nightly basis Brad or Brain would come pick up what they needed and leave a list of what else they needed, if i did not have it in stock they would normally have it in 3 or 4 days. How many other manufacture can deliver in this time frame mid season. On one occasion they did wait 8-9 days for a set of alum vents in a color i normally did not offer.

I am not a wealthy man nor try to pose as one. As far a my relationship ship with my plastic supplier i have always paid cash up front. When ordering material a run of black polycarbonate runs right at 25,000. I had established a deal with my supplier after 3 years of paying 1/2 up front that they would stock the needed material without money down, we did this for a season of hoods three orders worth. With the economic condition of the last year or so they were not able to do this for me, not wanting to purchase 25,000 in material during the slow economy i decided to purchase a stock size thicker material, the narrower sheet was more difficult to form but produced a nicer overall hood, the hoods we produced last season were the nicest, thickest most detailed hoods we have ever offered. For this season we are producing a new line of hoods with a much more stock type material, i have been working on this for several years and they are going to kick ***.
I spend over a 100 grand with my plastic supplier on a average year, as you can guess they don't like me much.

Sunbather 69 get a hold of me i will take care of you. I wont be back in the shop until thursday.

Brad was ordering hoods and selling them no problem until the day i cut ties, in fact they had more than 7 hoods on order.

Mod rods offer to help pay for material was taken as a joke, seeing i could not even get them to pay their existing bill. I was slow in getting them their final bill for the previous season, but once i did it took them over 3 months to pay it, just under 4 grand, usually if i was complaining about being broke it was my way of trying to get them to pay me, I now i should of grown a pair and just gotten to the point. At the time that modrods booked the booth for puyallup show last year they owed me just under 8 grand so the 900. for the both was taken off of their bill, i do not see this as trading out when they already owed me the funds. Just a funny side note 400.00 of the existing bill was from when i had paid for their booth at Boise just weeks before. To his credit once Brad took over the money side of modrods i never had a problem getting paid.

I did not start my new website until after cutting ties with Modrods. They never came to me with their new m products until after they were done. For quite some time they sold both their new product and mine. The day they placed a order for 75 sheets of abs from my plastic supplier is the day i drew the line.

Yes it is very hard at times to get a hold of me, and this has hurt my business. I work most night until 2 am or later and do not get to the shop until after 10am on most days. I have always made my #1 priority to offer the best product i can at the lowest price, unlike those that look at something and say how much can i get someone to pay for this.

This has never been a price thing, modrods prices has always been higher than mine. This was about right and wrong, your dollar your call.

I have no accuses for my past performance in being available for my customers, and can only promise to try to improve.

Thanks again Bill Moore
