XP Secondary Spring Idea Might Explain Some Problems

It occured to me that all clutch springs lose some poundage after a while and from what I understand that purple spring in the secondary is one really long skinny wire spring, these will lose even more poundage after some use compared to a thicker wire, short high rate spring. So this might explain one of the symptoms I've read about, to high of rpms at low speeds, when new this spring may have so much poundage it WON'T LET THE SECONDARY UPSHIFT. This could cause some of the belt problems also when the primary is doing its best to do what its supposed to do, UPSHIFT. So some reports are starting to come in on some of the sleds that are more broken in and how much faster they are, that long spring losing some of its poundage might be part of it.

When the purple spring I ordered comes in I'll check poundage and then clamp it in the vise for a few days and check again.

Good Luck

It's the same spring they have used in the secondary for many years. IMo they are just not throwing enough weight at the primary to keep things consistant.
Or, it might just be the sleds are getting broken in/things loosen up and they just run stronger after they get a little time on them, that's how every new sled I've had has been. ???
