XP RPM's

I have a new 08 XP. Comparing it to my 800 rev, it is very revvy. i have a DJ kit in my rev and the clutching on it is very smooth, engages at about 3800 rpm.
i believe this is because of primary spring rate. What are people doing to get their clutches dialed in. I have (dealer installed before pickup), around 17 grams of weight in primary. Will the DJ kit help with the high rev before engaging. My primary spring is stock. Will the primary spring alone help with this condition?

When starting out it runs about 6000 rpm @ 20 mph then shifts and rpm drops a little. Is it possible to get the clutch on the XP to act like the rev. I think DJ sent me a 160/320 spring for my last kit. The XP does not act like the older rev on take off or mid speed cruising. I will have to say that the mid range on this sled is pretty amazing compared to the old rev. But when just cruising around the XP motor is way busier than the rev.

This motor likes to rev Its because the power valves open later than your older rev chassis. Ski doo had to do this so they could pass emissions. Some Aftermarket companys are milling the rave valves so they open sooner this will lower the high revs when your cruising down the trail. Changing the secondary spring will also lower these rpms Some. How were your RPM at Full throttle? Dj does build a good kit for the XP and is a good Option.

It's the ramps, you need to go away from them. The have a huge belly in the bottom of them. I even tried a 130/290 spring last year and it's still horrible on the trail This year I went to some new ramps, (they are proto type ramps from a buddy) but with the 160/320 spring it shifts like a mofo on the trail. I can cruise 50mph at about 6,000 rpms. Still lots of bottem end even with the late valve opening.

I hate how my sled revs at slow speed on the trail, sounds like a diesel generator or something. 6000 rpm and barely moving. glad this isn't a big part of my day or it would bug me more.

rpms at full throttle seem around 8100 to 8200 in 10 to 12 inches of snow and flat ground. It will be interesting to see how it will climb up onto some deep stuff

There a great sled I Have friends running 17 grams of pin weight in clicker two and getting 8100 8200 from sea level to 3000 ft and I have friends running 14 grams in clicker two from 5000 to 6500 ft. The trick is too not use clickers 4 ,5 ,6 Theres no track speed and more clutch heat. So Enjoy your new sled. Dynamoe Joe is working on a new ramp for his xp kits also.

GoldenRider. You should try my 08 with the 414 ramps to see if you like them. These ramps only change the lower rpm end of performance. When you are riding the trail and you feel the rpms are a little high and buzzy, just snap the flipper and the sled accelerates, and quickly upshifts and holds it.

Hi Teth-Air, ya I have tried little flicks of the throttle etc to make it move out of gear, have also tried backing out of it a bit thinking that maybe it's like my powerstroke, that if it's under just enough load it won't upshift, but yah to no real success so far. Would like to try your sled with different ramps, next time our paths cross lets do that.

Cheers.
