XP recall sept 10th

'09 recall too

I went in to p/u (or at least inquire as to when I could) my '09. My dealer told me all '09's manufactured before ~ mid August are having the drive shaft replaced as well. Same issue - bad metallurgy, high sulfur content in the steel. Dealer is in Cochrane Alberta.
I would think that most '09's would be affected as by mid August most are already manufactured. I am surprised no other posts have been placed regarding this issue as I know there are dealers on here.........
I wonder if the boys who have already picked up their '09's had the replacement done or simply rec'd ones after the issue was resolved or haven't been told yet.

Man these issues are getting old. For as much money as a new sled costs you would think they could get this figured out.

My dealer emailed the notice to me on the 10th. I was the first one to call the dealer and get one ordered. The bulletin said that BRP was sending 2-3 shafts per dealer each week for the next 30-60 days, after that the units will increase till all sleds are taken care of. I'll be getting mine done in October when the first shaft gets there.

I just asked my dealer about my 09X and he said that it was only the 08s.

Does anyone have a copy of the Pdf for the recall?

I would say based on what I read on the recall notice that the only model affected for 09 is the MXZ TNT model only, and the 08 models. That's how I read it...

I had my driveshaft replaced after that first one blew and sent me over the bars. I'm assuming that this one need to be replaced also?

SilverGriz,
I would agree that your previous replaced driveshaft would/will need to be replaced. This "new/improved" unit is just starting to be built and did not exist when your original was replaced during the 07/08 riding season.

Just got off the phone with my dealer. He ordered 50 and they are all backordered until mid November....this is so frustrating!!

Looks like that letter is for the 09 mxz's and all 08's..... where is the confusion?

the confusion i think is that the peeps who bought the 09 snowchecks ( summit X) where thinkin the drive shaft had to be replaced ! not so ! just the mxz for 09 ! i talked to my dealer on the mountain sleds and there fine mxz is a short track and a trail sled ! no use for us out west !!!
