--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I stopped by a SkiDoo dealer yesterday to pick up a 19 tooth sprocket. I talk to one of the guys (Chris) in the shop to see weather they were seeing any of the clutch & belt problems I've both been hearing about and experiencing. To my amazement he not only acknowledged the issues, he took me into the shop where there were two or three XP clutches sitting on a bench. One was so hammered it looked like someone took a tire iron to it. After he thoroughly examined the clutches he found the bushings were the wrong size and were causing the clutch to wobble like a three legged dog. He had a clutch spring housing from an 07 clutch and it fit perfect. Then he put on the original spring housing and it was pathetic, it had so much play in it it was as if there was no bushing in it at all !!!!!! You can imagine the heat and premature belt wear that would result with an osculating clutch that is turning at high rpm!!!!!!! Mine is going in as soon as possible to have the clutch removed and checked. There is a upgrade bushing P/N 417223017. after he replacing the old bushing with the upgrade It was definitely better but still not as good a fit as the 07 clutch housing. To check your clutch for play you must remove and set it on a bench with the shaft pointing up and simply hold the bottom half of the clutch on the bench and grab the top half of the clutch and check for any play, you might be shocked!!! As to running out of adjustment on the secondary, it seems that they are aware of the problem and supposedly it's a belt width issue and in the next week or so will exchange with one of there MXZ racing belts witch are 1-2 millimeters wider. I hope this helps so we can all realize the full potential of these sleds....
