XP Oil Reservoir Leak

I have a 800 xp 146 that leaks oil from the cap area. I told my dealer and they said it has been an issue with a few sleds and they can give me a new cap. So i did so and the thing still leaks. Has anyone here had the same issue? I am wondering if its a combo of the cap and reservoir. Let me know. Thanks....

My dealer told me that the threads on some of the tanks are bad and that the new tanks are backordered until sometime this summer.
He also said that if you put that white plumbers tape around the cap area that it wont leak. So that is what I did and it hasn't leaked since

It's the resevoir. Some of them are warping due to heat. Had mine replaced 2 weeks ago under warranty. Before that I tried using a replacement cap, tape and even a polaris cap(!), but nothing worked. There's a guy selling an insert on Dootalk, that might work because it's supposed to keep the opening from deforming. Haven't heard if it works though.

if you take the cap off look at the top of the tank , it's not even . the cap won't screw on evenly . you'll need a new tank , just another warrenty issue . got mine done , oh and the hand warmers , and the drive shaft , and the 19 top gear and the 377 . i think thats it . gess i shouldn't have taken my sled withe serial # being 0000013 . hhmm !!

The past posts suggest that guys running stock muffler are warping the oil tank threads. The aftermarket cans are smaller and don't get so close to the tank? Also once the leak at the cap is solved, take some tubing and add it on to the vent filter, route it up the frame over the motor and down and out the top of the right front shock tower. If you even get close to full on these tanks the oil expands and pushes out the overflow/vent. With the stock set-up, it gets through the filter and spills all over the electrical plug below the tank. This will happen and you will always have a mess..

I have had a HPS can since day one and mine still leaked. Once I got the updated insert and Rev oil cap the problem was solved. I fill the oil right to the top.
