Xp Leaky Oil Tank Cap

Anybody have a problem with the cap on the new xp leaking? I checked it and it looks like it is cross threaded from the factory? I looked a little further into it and the threaded top on the tank is not straight. I guess you wold call it the lip of the oil tank. I put a straight edge on it and it has a dip into it. I tried numerous times to screw it on so it would sit perfectly flush all around. To no avail. Was wandering if anybody else has had these problems?

thanx in advance mtnmatt 360 miles, 2 belts, hand warmers still work.

have the same problem...just figured I was a bonehead when \i put the cap on...but how I got it to screw flush was by pushing it down really hard as I screwed it on..buddies XP...he does not have problem...so maybe just a few sleds...

I notice it leaks pretty good when sled upside down or rolling it over to get it unstuck. Me no like that fact. Roll overs part of life for mountain boys. Goose

Yup, mine started leaking yesterday when I had it upside down and sideways for the first time. It was cross threaded form the dealer I assume. Went back on straight with a little effort but I didn't have the chance to do another gravity test afterwards.

I posted the same thing here about 5 weeks ago but did not get any responses. I got a new cap under warranty and it stopped leaking. Mine was cross threaded the first time I took it off. It was on so tight from the factory, I had to fight with it to get it off the first time. I have not had any problems since but have not screwed it down very tight.

I also found out yesterday after rolling the sled out of a hole, that my cap gets cross threaded if you tighten it too much, and it leaked a bunch of oil all over the inside of the engine compartment. I'm taking it in for my 10-hour check, and will have them pressure wash it.

Mine leaked oil every where. I was told that it was tightened too tight. Pull the seal out and put it back in and don't tighten it so tight. Tried it and it quite leaking. I have had the cap fall off before while riding on my m7/8. Oil every where and tank was almost empty after a long climb when I noticed the light was flashing. Had to get some out of some one elses sled to get me home. Ruined a great day.
I don't feel real safe putting the cap on just snug. Some one on dootalk makes inserts that hold the tank round and builds up the lip on the thank. He has got some measurments and some other cap info to see if one works or if he can make one for the xp.

Me too, leaky, leaky.
Sounds great badass1000, I would buy one and would love to mail BRP the receipt.

I would love to send brp the reciept also, but I know that isn't going to happen. Dealer wouldn't do the gear change under warranty and didn't have the parts in stock any ways. On back order with no release date.
So I bought a gear from wahl brothers and did it myself. Hand warmers went out last weekend with none in stock. Hopefully late this week or next hand warmers should be in.
They are warrantying the belts.
