the front hood flap that goes over the pipe/spare belt keep jiggling loose on me. i was tinking of adding some velcro to the top tab areas ... has any one else effectivly fixed this problem in another way ?
thx

I just bought my sled and am having the same problem. I thought I just didn't completely get the rear tads in but one side or the other keeps popping out.

XP Hood Fit

Yep, same here on the wifes 09 XP, seems that the right side doesn't want to stay tight.

This has been posted before. One fix is what you mentioned with the velcro, the other was to put a bungee cord around the hood and let it sit by some heat over night. I did try this method and it worked for a while. I'm going to try the velcro next. Doesn't seem fair to spend $10K on a new sled and have to use velcro to keep the hood from falling off.

Another trick is to stuff it into your rear bumper (tabs down) and leave it until you ride again. The rear bumper seems to be just the right width to put a good squeeze on it, same idea as the bungee, maybe a bit easier though.

xp hood

If we're talking about the hood on the Xp I have fixed mine. I noticed the problem after we put the 09 air filter on the 08 sled, that's when the hood kept coming loose or poping away from being seated.

If you look under the hood (at the high end around the head light) there are 2 little tabs or nubins which hook or pop into the main housing, I took the Fien Multi Master and cut a void or notch in the tabs or nubins so that now when you put the hood on the tabs or nubins pop in their sockets and the notches I cut into the tabs hook the edges of the sockets or holes and keep the hood firmly in place.

I can email photos if anyones interested.

Tks Will

A piece of adhesive foam in the "V" part under the headlights gives it a bit of forward "push" and keeps it nice and tight... as a longtime yammy owner I couldn't handle the poor fit of some of the panels and had to get resourceful to make them fit to my standards. Love the sled tho! Will post pics if anyone wants to see, pm me! :)

I used a set of the ZX chassis hood straps and mounted them where the hood matches the dash cowling... Works GREAT! :D

You paid 10k?

Mine (09) fits nice and tight. My 08 hood kept popping out on one side.

Thats a good idea. Trying to bend\curve the hood is just a temporary fix, eventually it will open up again with the under hood heat, but would help

I think main problem isn't the hood, its the way the spare belt pushes out on that side of the plastic

Same problem here, please post pics of fix.

My dealer talked with Doo about this and Doo says it's a problem with white only. I say BS. I suggested to pay restock if a new one fits like chit, if not it's a warranty item in my opinion.

After sitting in my shop over summer my hood wouldn't even stay on while sitting still.

I took mine and stood in font of the hot fireplace got nice and hot and flexible, Then started bending it to the shape i wanted. Just hold the bend you want untill it cools, then stick on the sled see what part isnt sitting flush and reheat and bend till cool.

Mine fits perfect now perfectly flush around all edges.

I tried a heat gun but a fireplace works better you can heat the hole hood in one shot. very easy

xp hood modification

If we're on the same page this what I did, no glue no tape and it holds

Thanks Bill
