XP first ride fun

My Riding buddy just got a new 154 800 and we took it out for the first time on the weekend. First thing I noticed was that the clutches were so hot that you could fry an egg on them and we were not even in deep powder, the next thing that happened was the skid plate the dealer put on fell off cause they never put washers on the rivets. The worst part was just before we were going to head back to the truck the recoil stoped working and we had to start it off the clutch. When we got home and took the recoil off we found that the pully had melted to the plastic center post and would hardly turn.

Has anyone else had problems with their recoils and is there a metal housing that you can put in the new 800?

Where did you buy this sled from? A good dealer addresses all of those issues BEFORE it leaves the shop. Better buy from somebody else!

If they don't use the long rivets the skid plate can pop off once ice builds up under it and the A-arm hits it.

New model year and same issue's:(

Next thing ya know you'll have no handwarmers, guage, over the bars ya go when the drive axle lets go.

Guess i wont have to buy a hotdogger, i'll let my lunch warm up on the chitty roasting hot clutch. LOL:face-icon-small-con

Don't sweat it guys. Just another story of "I have a friend with an XP and they suck". Maybe Graveler can start a support group for all you jealous XP haters.

Darko...when will you start riding? I'll be curious to see how the XP does with your riding style.

I send mother nature an Email and havent heard back from here yet. LOL

Couple weeks I hope.

I rode the last 3 rides of last year on a 154" Everest, felt great other than the seat that was like siting on concrete, tall gay windshield and that I blew the chaincase apart LOL. I got an 09 Xpkg so no gay windshield, Boss seat so no concrete, now I just hope the chaincase was a one shot deal.

You riding yet ?

Was it a new '08 or a new '09?

Not enough snow yet, but we should be riding by the end of the month. Snow in the mountains tonight! :D

Did you have to cut the tabs off the tank to make the Boss seat fit? I'd like to make the switch, but I'm a little leary about this. Is CR Racing doing a tunnel for you?

Hate to be a nay sayer but Ski-Doos clutching was so far off last year that I do not see the small changes they made making it better, Some of the changes could be worse in my opion. Minus the clutching the XP is an awsome sled.

Yup, tabs came off super quick. Boss seat actually fits super good on the XP, I know and agree on all the bad Boss service, ordering etc, but the Foam in there seats is fawking sweeeeet. Ordered mine first week in October and got it 3rd week:D:D

Chads told me 20 times I gotz a freebie XP tunnel whenever I want, I just dont have the time to do it. Guess i'll wait till i bend this one lol.

I just mounted my new boss seat on my 09. It may be possible to not cut the tabs off but I think they would end up damaging the bottom of the seat cover and foam. It would be difficuilt to get it to sit as flat and to also be able to get good grip with the velcro if the tabs were left on. my 2 cents.

Boss should have just moved the velcro towards the center of the seat and recessed the styrofoam around the seat tabs and left a little extra material to go over them.....beats buying a new gas tank or damaging the seat. Seems so simple

What is the Clutching Fix for the 08 800 XP

Got my dealer fixing all the known issues with this model of sled, nothing done about the clutching except for the new belt and the new 19 tooth top gear which I am told will fix all clutch issues.

I have Electric Start, 162 track and am looking forward to having my sled right for when the snow gets deep enough to get out there.

So if anyone has any suggestions on any other clutch issues that should be dealt with , I would like to hear about it.

Darko dont slash your wrists yet. Even though we will be flyin over the handle bars together
