XP drive shaft removal

Im removing the drive shaft off my 2008 800 xp. I have the chaincase removed and gear removed. I got my brake pads off but having trouble extracting the brake calliper and disc from the shaft? Is there any kinda trick or just use wedges?

Where the brake caliper support hooks over the drive shaft, you have to pry in 3 spots around it the best you can. It will make your tunnel support flex a bit. You will want to leave your chaincase gear and snap ring in place for resistance. There is also collar on the inside than twists out, its what the four bolts thread into through the brake disc. The bearing is pressed into place with the four bolts when they are tightened. The 09 we did already had corrosion on the exterior, so put on some anti-seize. Hope this helps. got er off. thanks.... what is the plastic piece for on the end of the drive shaft..I broke it trying to get the shaft out

I think its just a plug for the hollow driveshaft, could be wrong, buddy stuck a screwdriver through his. I dont think it is used for the speedo.

The magnetic side is the chain case side.I think the magnents are to catch the metal shavings coming off your gears. The plug is to keep the chain case oil in the chain case and out of the shaft.I'm shure it adds some support to keep the ends from bending out of round.I broke one too there not that spendy.I would replace if its on the chain case side. The brake side might be O.K.
Just my 2 cents I'm no expert.

magnets on the gear side plug are for the speedo, pickup is on the chaincase cover.
