XP Clutch Removal

I have never removed the clutch's on the XP so I have a couple of questions. Do I need the Clutch Spring Compression tool or can I just make one? If I make one that will work on the primary and secondary, can someone give me the specs on how to do it. Also, do you have to take the secondary out with the jackshaft, that means pulling the chaincase cover and gear?

I have only had the primary off but this said ,only a clutch puller is required. I changed the spring, added weights. No special tools required.

Some say there is a dangerous way to remove only the outer sheeve, supposively you can loosen the clutch bolt, rev up the engine to spin the track and slam on the brake. I'm not trying it but if you are changing primary parts and just need to get into it, it may be possible.

If someone uses this technique, let us know.

And yes the secondary comes out with the shaft.

This XP primary seems different than my previous REV. I pulled the clutch but do you think I can get it apart or able to get the governor out? I hit the bolt like Bill Cudney suggested but it just will not budge and I am hitting it hard. Anybody have any recommendations? How hard can I hit this thing without breaking it?

have pulled several and all we do is just hold the inside half and drop it on the concrete and it pops off
