XP bulkhead replacement

Have a friend with an '08 XP with some bulkhead damage from skipping off a boulder and off a 20-30 foot cliff. The bottom of the bulkhead is ripped off. He has all the parts he needs to replace the front half of the bulkhead. The problem is the large size rivets that hold the bulkhead together.

How or who can we get with the right skills and rivet machine to do the work on that part of bulkhead? I can do everything but these huge squish rivets. Is there someone in Utah that can do this Skidoo specialized work?

What about a stainless panhead screw and lock nut. Weight would be minimal.

That is what the Doo guys are telling me to use. Sounds like I might be doing the work on it. I hate to revive any xp but the guy has shown me some riding spots that are some of the best in the state! I got to get him back up and riding!

Use and air chisel and knock the rivets heads off... then just punch them out.. replace all rivets with 1/4-28 bolts (use a button head for lower clearance) and no more rivets///

I also had to replace my XP bulk head last year and I also used small bolts instead of the rivets, one thing I will say about the bolts is they really did add strength to the front of my XP.

Yep, bolts are the way to go. Also don't worry about the air chisel. Instead just take a standard chisel and put it on the base of the bigger side of the rivet. Give it a whack or two with a big rubber mallet or a heavier hammer and they will pop right off. Much quicker and quieter than the air chisel and less chance of scarring up the rest of the aluminum parts. I have done a dozen or so of these, so if you need a hand let me know I would be glad to show you how or get part #'s for the bolts and nuts.
