I would advise all xp owners that are blowing belts to check your airboxes. I was putting some slp flowrite vents in my my secondary airbox next to the gas tank and was shocked to look inside and see tons of string from three belts I've blown. How does it get there you ask. When the primary air inlet is plugged with snow (which is all the time) a springed valve opens right under your inlet (straight up from the primary clutch) and sucks air from inside the engine compartment. So this cotton candy type shiznit is everywhere, including your carbs and internal engine. I am installing the flowrites and closing the small inlet permanantly.
