XP 800R engine performance issue

I have a 5800-6200rpm stumble and it started two rides ago. My dealer went through the carbs looking for debris, checked carb calibrations and inspected the RAVE valves and found no problems. When I go from idle to full throttle I have no issues but if I pull the engine into this rpm range then I get the stumble, I can throttle through it and clear it up but it is very annoying when I am boondocking. I don't have this problem when I start my ride. I don't know if outside temps are affecting the MPEM but I can ride for a couple of hours and have no stumble but after that I have the stumble. I ride mostly in 6,000' to 8,500' elevations.

I did a search on here and had no luck finding this issue. Has anyone had this issue with their XP?

the 08's have a leaner needle than the 07's. get a couple 07 needles start with the clip in the middle position. should take care of your problem. good luck.

The BOG

Bornetoride has it.... The CARBS are made wrong... Check the thread under BOG..... BRP knows about the carb problem.. If your dealer says he doesnt know about the carb issue,,,,, find another dealer..... This is a known issue. The bog that I have seen is from 6500 RPM to 7000.... Maybe yours is different.. My dealer fixed mine, but I am waiting for new cards from DOO.

This guys got it right!... I just talked to my buddy 2 hours ago and he told me he sends hours trying to figure out this problem on a customers sled. (he is the head king pin at a BRP dealership) He finally got BRP to admit that it was a problem with some carbs from the manufacturer....

I will check it out. The part I don't understand is why the there was no "bog" for the first 300 miles and then suddenly it started. There is a bulletin out on the race sleds that explain that debris is getting into the carbs from a gas tank manufacturing issue but mine did not have that problem. For the ones that had this problem, was the "bog" evident when the sled was new or did it develop the problem over the next few hundred miles?

This issue is not being caused by the intake. The inlet screen is free of ice when this happens.

We had this very issue.

SnoJos did the same. RPM's jumped from 5800 to 6400 and was not rider friendly.

The problem is the exhaust power valves not opening correctly. Have your dealer clean and calibrate them, Problem gone. Trust me.

There definetly are issues with some XP's with carburator syncronation, but the issue with your sled is the power valves.

I know that dealer checked to make sure the valves where free but he may not have checked the sync. I agree, this would explain the problem and it is what I expected but when I was told that it checked out I assumed I had another problem. The dealer did run the sled on the stand but I assume the engine needs load to generate this issue. Back to the dealer I go......

Change carbs

My sled would hang up at 5700 and then go to 6700. We changed carbs and the problem went away. It is definitely in the carbs.

It was probably always there and you just didn't spend enuff time at that RPM for it to happen... I wasn't paying close enuff attention to hear the problem exactly when my buddy explained it, but I do remember something about some air bleed orfices or something not pushed into the carb body properly... He told me to take my sled for a ride in the field and run the engine around 5000 rpm then grab a little bit of brake to load up the track/engine and hold it for a bit (I don't know how long a bit is) he said if you have the problem your sled will drop a cylinder and run like poo.

I hope this helps you out

You guys might be right on both parts and this sled has two issues. However, I did ride this sled several times in different situations and had not found that boggy area prior to the last ride. That makes me think Idaho Slim is correct.

Perhaps 1moretime can enlighten us on the findings once the dealer gets done going back over it.

y pipe

I lost some performance, checked it out and noticed all my manifold bolts had backed out enough to leak exhaust on the mag side and one bolt broke off inside my jug on the pto side
