XM 800R E-Tech chenk engine and oil light

I just a Summit sp XM. When i got it home and pulled it out of the trailer the oil light came on and had a No Oil message along with the check engine light with a Rev Limit message. The sled has only 1 mile, I picked it up at the dealership we ran it for a while and no lights came on or nothing but when i got it home the lights came on and it whent into Shutdown mode twice. Anybody have any ideas, they would be much appreciated.

I would take it back and ask about the rev limiter message. Hopefully they can explain it as an error related to the oil level message. I would hate to think a dealer is running a sled that hard at setup.. Maybe do a quick check for unhooked plugs, the one forward of the airbox in the air intake tube is common but I doubt it would throw those messages. If they did the fuel outlet update they probably had the airbox out and may have left something unplugged, perhaps the oil level plug too. Just a guess.

I called the dealership and he has no idea what it could be, he even called the mechanic who put the sled together who didn't know either. they said take it to a dealer and have them hook it up to a computer. I will check for lose plugs. I saw somebody talking a bout an oil tank recall and wondering if maybe that could be the problem?

I have a 13 XM and had the same thing happen to me after riding about 6-7 miles of trail with scratchers down, normal operating temp, full oil, full non-eth fuel. Engine light and oil light come on, then no oil message, then rev limit message. Shut it down, restart, same problems, plus warm up message. Shut it down for 30 min, restart, no messages all the way back to the truck. Dealer has it now, found some kind of code about oil pump and are waiting to hear back from BRP. I will update when I get more info.

Thanks for the info Deep Thrills, hope it isnt anything too bad. I was planning on going riding this comming weekend. I would appreciate it if you let me know what you find out. I am going to call some dealerships today and see what they say.

Ugh, so Doo is having random, intermitent electronic gremlins too.
One large reason I want to leave the Prolaris behind is this fact.

I guess no one can get electronics and snow to work together...

Let us know what you find.

Here is an update on my sled - the dealer worked with BRP and found out that the problem was a bent electrical prong on the male end of the electrical connector to the oil pump. Apparently, there was an issue during assembly where if the worker was not careful and forced the connection when the plugs weren't lined up correctly, it would bend the prong and not line up into the female end properly. Sounds like this is a known issue. The dealer said it was kind of a job to access the oil pump and connector. Once they disconnected it and started the engine, the engine light and other symptoms we saw occurred. After fixing the bent prong and reconnecting, no more codes or engine light. I am riding this weekend and will let you know if the problem reoccurs, but hopefully it's fixed.

I hope that helps with your sled.

Thanks Deep Thrills for the update. I have an appointment tomorrow morning and I will make sure to let them know and hopefully that is all it is. Hope everything goes well for you.

I would like to thank everyone for the help. The problem was the oil pump wasn't plugged in all the way. The dealership fixed it and now it runs great. It is a thrill to ride and handels great, atleast untill I bent the A-arm. Hope you all enjoy your sleds too.
