XF 1100 Turbo High Country Break In

So I just got my father inlaw to buy a new 2013 High Country 1100T with the 141 and 2.25 track. We have a trip planned for out west the first week of january! My question is we in the past few years in MN/UP Michigan have not had any snow till january so will not have time to break in the new sled according to the owners manual before we go out west. So my question is what are you mountain guys doing for break in on your 1100 Turbos.

Clean the clutches and belt real good and check alignment. Break in is pretty much how ever much trail there is from the trail to the powder. I do like to get a good 20-30 miles on it first though.

I broke mine in for the 20 minutes it took me to unload it off the trailer and get dressed to ride. I avoided long pulls for the first day but that was it. Never had a motor issue or blown a belt. If I were you I would be more concerned about having a 141 2.25 out west in January. That's like putting high heels on a hippo with a turbo and telling to walk across the snow.
just my 2 pennies

I would add some oil to the fuel for lubrication

just to be safe, and vary the throttle position constantly, drive it around in the grass a little or on a stand to make sure there are no issues. check your front bolts for tightness

Funny comparison!! Its actually not my sled, I would have went with a M. Its my father in laws new machine he will be doing mostly trail while we are out playing in the steep and deep, but I am sure we will get him to go to a few off trail spots which is why I asked about running it hard with little to no miles on it. By the way we will be going to Island Park, ID

I dont think adding oil to the gas is a good idea. 4 strokes dont like that. Your warranty comes from Arctic cat so I would break it in the way they recommend. If you drive a around at half throttle for the first while its ot bad. It still builds boost.

Took my XF out west with the 2.250 on it for fun. It will be fine. The track stands are a hoot. If it only had some more track speed...:face-icon-small-ton
Like mentioned above, vary the throttle and keep the wfo's to a minimum.

fwiw
having never ridden sea level HP at altitude, I found I rode around without having to keep it pinned as much as my M8's.

Call me what you will

I put a bunch of mods on my M1100 SP right from new including the hijacker 2.0 and just rode it. I've never had any engine problems.

Agreed........vary throttle as much as possible up to half throttle for the first while. Then try to keep the full throttle pulls at a minimum. That sled will be fine in the deep and will come down more to rider skill. As above, it will actually require less throttle due to the available power at altitude.
