Hi guys

Considering the purchase of a 2017 ktm xc-w 300 with lectron carb and rekluse for snowbike

I love 2t stroke simplicity

Any one has some feedback to share with this set up ?
Pro & con

Riding is mostly flat land , three riding , 1000ft msl , temp change is my big concern as it fluctuate from above freezing to way down below

Thanks

Two strokes are simple in the summer. 4 strokes are simple in the winter.
Most problems come from deep snow on the smokers. Hard to keep temps consistent. I’m definitely not saying dont do it but a fuel injected four stroke is a pretty easy setup for snow. Of course, race bikes aren’t the best for trail riding in the summer. It’s for this reason that many of us on here have designated snow and summer bikes. I know—first world problems huh.

Many run the Lectron in the snow , simply run a tad richer rod than you would run in dirt, I,ve installed over 30 and work good.the 1/2 to full throttle is simply adjusted with a screwdriver adding fuel via the power jet.

The XC makes a much better snow bike due to it's close ratio tranny. If it's a close call between the XC and XC-w for summer use that may be something to consider.

all good

flat country tree riding on the 300, all good. I have added a primer bulb to give my Lectrons a squirt of gas on real cold early morning startup, made my 4 WR an instant starter in real cold weather.

The power jet on the Lectron covers low mid to WOT, so one turn of the screw is all you need to adjust for real cold weather overall rich or lean. The Lectron atomizes gas far better than the oriental carbs, so less prone to any deto and seizure issues.

The wider ratio of the xc-w isn't a problem to fret about. No bike model has the correct transmission for riding in the snow...........just no a big deal. I often ride the steep and deep with wide ratio 300 guys, I don't see any tears.

I think the first 3 gears on a WR are pretty close to an SX. At least, I read that somewhere.

You and I probably ride the same type of terrain, I live in NH.

I loved my Lectron on my 16' 300 XC-W. Now my bike is a 330 and the Lectron has performed flawlessly with the dirt setup I bought from they. I'm sure the snow setup will work just as good.

It's nice not having to screw around with jetting. You'll have to adjust the idle here and then during big temperature changes, but that's easy to do.

The Lectron will outperform your stock Mikuni carb. The bike will burn less fuel and run a hell of a lot cleaner. The guys over at Lectern are super helpful as well.

Thank guys for the feedback

My main point with the rekluse is to free my left hand from working the clutch so I can use it to push the bike to get unstuck

I been riding a 690 and to get unstuck that was a solid workout lol so I did wish I had the rekluse
