How are you liking you're 162" X3. Really thinking hard about putting a X3 in 162". On my 14. Pro rmk. Lets here some reviews good, bad. And any where in between. Also is the center punch X3, ( carls set up) that much better then the regular X3? Because its about 600 more. Shipping to Canada.

I'm running a non center punched on my 14 turbo, powder it seems good but wonder if a 2.5 would be better for hill climbing, re track speed. I ran a 2.5 on my 1100 turbo and liked it better than buddies 3.

Had a 3" on my mod sled, took it off and went back to the 2.5...but It does have its good and bad points depending on your riding style.

I have the 156 on mine and LOVE IT! we do a lot of tree riding and this track really shines in the steep and deep, if your trying to get over all track speed its probably not the track of choice but for quick "zing" and hook up its the best i have ever ran

not losing any, but in high hp situation (turbo) your not going to see the track speed gains that you would with a 2.5 extreme

MY Take: Do you want to use the power to go forward and up on top of snow or just spin track and get high speed #'s?
I know every conditon is different but in general the testing same sleds side by side the x3 works much better.

Best other example I can give is a boat prop: you can use a 3 blade prop and get more rpm, more slip or you can use a 5 blade prop and get less slip, and more actual speed if motor has power to push it.

I have 3 rides on my 162 3" with 7 tooth drivers. In general happy. I did have to change my clutching slightly (stock polaris has been best for me, have tried 3 others. This track pulled rpm down by about 100 rpm.). In 2' plus of fluff I noted very little difference in performance vs stock track. On the trails and with set up snow it hooks up better. Is the difference worth $1600? Probably not, but I would say performance is same or better in all conditions except racing down the trail.

This is the only mod I've done that I will likely do on my next sled. Past mods have been can, head, drop in pistons, narrow a arms, shock revalve, clutching. None where worth it to me. I still have the rest of the season, but for now planning on putting x3 on my 2015.

Did the 156 Center punched X3 on my 13. Have around 200 miles on it, and so far I am pretty impressed and feel like it is probably is about as good of a mod as you are gonna do for the money (besides a muffpot), and you don't lose any reliability (huge plus). This track reallyyyy digs, as expected, and it if it can find something to grab it just keeps going. Dependent on conditions it can really shine, didn't do me a whole lot of good in 4 feet of early season snow with nothing underneath as I kept trenching to the ground and spinning, and didn't do me a whole lot of good in 4ft of fresh on top of 4ft of a slighty setup base, that being said every sled in the group was worthless on this day. But in normal conditions, soft snow on a good setup up base, this track is very impressive and worth every penny. Hooks up so well, and is just plain fun. Definitely hums a lot on the trail and gets hot pretty quick on the trail, but nothing scratchers cant fix. Will be doing a 3"er again, good mod for the $$$.

x3 7 tooth

I installed the x3 this year and it is better in the deep stuff than any other track I have tried. I did the 156 with 7 tooth drivers.
The only problem is I have tightened the track as far as it will go but it is still loose. I either need to move my suspension back or buy a big wheel kit. I am leaning toward moving my suspension back. I am going to drill holes in tunnel and drop bracket about 3/4 of an inch back to move the suspension back. This might also help with the ski lift I am getting with the extra traction of the 3 inch. I have been riding with guys with the 163x16 and 174 3 inch and so far I have gone everywhere they have. I think the added track speed of the shorter track helps. The 3 inch is way better than any other track if you ride in deep powder.

I'm loving the 162 X3 so far on my 13 pro. The thing just hooks up. I haven't had it in over the hood pow yet but hopefully that will change soon. What I notice most about the track is that you pick up ground speed much faster than stock. You might not be spinning the track as fast but your ground speed picks up so much faster than stock. I think its well worth the money...

X3 162, 8t drivers

Finally got it all together and put a few miles in my '14 Pro. Did the Avid beltcase drop n roll with C3 belt and tensioner. Also SLP stage 3 motor.

1. Ended up with -10% lower gearing, and I am awaiting a -15% lower ratio (gears). It is a big track, and you can surely feel the added drag. Going to a 7t driver is ~ -8%.
2. Riding is different. Going the same places throttle is signifcantly less, all else being equal (really I'm a pure boondocker, not a big hill climber). I would liken it to going from a 4 cylinder car, keeping the revs up and screaming around, to a big block. You just don't need to keep the rpm's zinging. I like this, others may not.
3. Knowing #2 above, I also have realized my daily fuel consumption seems to be down, a bonus in my mind.
4. Added confidence. Instead of hitting things WFO and maybe a bit outta control (in the hope momentum will overcome). I feel I can torque around and if need be, throttle up to get out of trouble.
5. The dropnroll has been taxing as the avid case and C3 drive are not correctly manufactured to work togehter. Modifications to the system have been ongoing and I missed a month of riding waiting for parts. Hopefully subsequent items are compatible. Very dissapointing.
6. With 8t drivers and anti-stab, the rails still need trimming to their shortest possible length (using the stock spacer holes in rails) as the 8t 3p drivers are bigger and rubbed on avid driver teeth. Centre punched would have circumvented that problem.
7. Dropnroll of 1" on drivers, but only did a dropnroll of 3/4" on front and rear skid mounts - worked perfect (almost - item #6 may have not been an issue if I went back a furher 1/4"). Utilized stock outer holes in front mount and avid drop brackets in the rear mount. Track length fit perfect. When changing 163 to 162, 155 to 156, etc. be wary of this as you may need new rails.

Overall happy thus far. I would really like to compare a 7t without dropnroll to my 8t with it. I keep my sleds a couple years so I thought I should "do it right" but after the issues, 7t may have been the better option - cheaper for sure.

Have run it for 2seasons.
Last year with par 910
This year with a BD turbo.
I did go with 7t avids.
Everyone say i will have too low gearing with
7t 2.42 ish..i dont use my sled for speedruns or flatdrags...
But i really love it-for my riding it works the best.
Crazy floatation and hookup!
And like said in earlier posts you dont have to
Run things over to keep momentum
You can slow down find a new line and then
Tractor up n away thru anything!!
#1mod!

300 miles on my 2014 pro with 156 X3. Sled is stock other than track and Kmod skid. First thing i noticed is that it runs way hotter on the trail. My 2012 155 was usually always around 125-140 max and the 14 with X3 is 165-190.(Both with scratchers down on freshly groomed trail.) Second thing was CRAZY traction compared to the stock track on the 12(I did the f-bomb track mod on that sled). First trip was a bit of a learning curve as the track made the sled handle a lot different. Seemed way harder to ride in technical situations. It felt like there was a lot more ski pressure and was pushing more compared to stock. Everything was happening a lot quicker as well because I was moving forward rather than just spinning. I came home from that trip kind of on the fence as there was good and bad. Kmod skid was set up to Kevins instructions as far as limiter strap, shock preload and compression dampening( took skid directly from 12 and put it in the 14). I installed RSI Burandt bars(2'' lower than stock), and let my limiter straps out 1 hole and switched the coupling block from 3 to 1 for the next trip and it was a totally different machine. Now I was in a totally different location from the first trip with a little different snow conditions but all I can say now is that I am 100% sold. Sled felt way lighter on the skis while boondocking, and still maintained exceptional climbing ability. I could easily out climb a 2010 M8 with 162 CE 2.5. I have the stock clutching for now and was only pulling 7900-8050RPM so I'm sure there is room for improvement there. I do feel that it probably could benefit from lower gearing as well as I could smell belt and pulled a few cords while riding hard for extended periods. Over all after a bit of set up for my riding I'm confident that this track is the real deal for backcountry riding and will most definitely take my riding to the next level. One other thing to note was that while climbing in approx 2' of fresh I was getting 38-40 mph track speed.
