Wyoming non res trail permit rant

Ever since Wyoming started requiring trail permits for non residents, I would just go to the dealer here in town that sold them and buy 4 permits. All they needed was model and year of the sled they were going on. I went to get my permits today and was asked if I had my VIN. I said nope. Was told they needed VIN. Never had to in the past, was told Wyoming wants them now. My question is what is wrong with the idiots that make the rules down there? It is not like you can take them off the sled they are on and move them around as you see fit a screw Wyoming out of a fee. The good news is that it will save me 25 bucks cause the 4th sled has never been to Wyoming but I always paid for a permit to help support grooming a little. But I won't permit it now.

We have bought our trail permits in Laramie for the last several years now and have always had to provide a VIN number.... i don't think this is anything new, or at least not in the last 4 years.

They have always required a vin. Maybe the dealer did not require it before and Wyoming took a piece of his ***.

Ive been going to Bearlodge for 10 years now you always had to have the VIN# No big deal!! I do know in Colorado you dont need it! For both states you can preorder them if you want so you dont have the hassle in waiting in line for them, this is what I do every year:face-icon-small-hap

I just don't understand why they need the VIN. They are legally licensed and titled in MT. When I have been checked for the sticker, no one has ever asked to see the piece of paper you get with the permit to make sure the right permit is on the right sled. (Good thing cause I do not carry it) The permit is just a fee for grooming just like paying to use a toll road. VIN should have nothing to do with it. I'm done now. And I do feel better

Do you really believe if someone steals a sled that it will ever be registered again. It would be parted out.

I normaly just order online now the vin was new to me last year I was in saratoga and the place where i got my permits 4 total for family and was hassle like I was rideing locals snow vender was a jerk. I have been riding there since 1998 4 to 8 times per year.

I covered mine with my wrap so filled out a very simple one page affidavit along with the registration form and good to go. Not a big deal....

Supposed to get the VIN off the old sled and rivet or stamp it on the new tunnel. Ever since I have been riding in Wyo 15+ yrs always needed a vin for wyo

SO what do they do with re-tunnels? I have had sleds that had wrong tunnels on them due to some poor riding decisions.:face-icon-small-sho

Same as what they do for custom tunnels. FIll out the affidavit and buy a permit.
