I am phuqin pissed off as h3ll! I just found out that West Yellowstone Expo 2008 WILL NOT have thee bigair freestyle competion. Is this really true. This is a huge reason why we go to the Expo every year. VERY DISSAPPOINTED!!!

HOWEVER, there will still be an excessive amount of HOT air. That is the reason that I don't go to the Expo anymore. I can find my quota of loud mouthed arseholes right here in Rivercity, why drive 100 miles?:face-icon-small-con

yeah, not really an issue.

Still no shortage of dipwads running around!

I heard that there wasn't enough money offered up. It cost alot to bring those boys in these days. They make so much money elswhere.

YeP!

just wait a year or three...
there won't be no more expo either! its been going downhill for the last 6-8 years. The vendor numbers have been getting worse year after year. I have been going EVERY year since the 1st annual in 1991, and believe me, it has not been the same since 98-99.:face-icon-small-con

it is strange though, because WY was the point of origin for this freestyle show back in the day. Its the place where Hungerford(sp) and a chosen few planted their roots in this freestyle sport!
money wise, Chris Burandt walked away last year with a $5000 check as I remember.

Jackson has a free style this year.. also some kind of a concert

Mike-My guess is you have a ton more $$$ in Jackson to support the hill climb. I really think the town of West is being killed by all the enviro changes. Plus the cost of travel is keeping alot of the visitors from back east home. $$$FUEL$$$

I have been going to the Expo since 2003, and I have been very happy with it. The Expo is a blast, and a fun time for all snowmobilers. Come by and check out the snowcross and the drag races. The snowdrag is one of the biggest races I have seen (for the West)- many of the great drag racers from all over the West come to this race.

I challenge you to say what needs to be changed so it is the "same". Bring that info to the West Yellowstone Chamber of Commerce. I am sure that the Chamber of Commerce would love to hear some feedback, I know for a fact that they are great people. Maybe send them a letter or something.

I don't think it is right to come on here and criticize an organization without bringing problems to their attention first.

I am not trying to make anyone mad here, I am just trying to help out.

I have seen better vendor shows, better snocross races and not to many better drag races, but, you can't find it all together in one place like you can in West. At least in the winter. The chamber does do a phenominal job bringing the town together for this event. We've only been going 8 years and still enjoy it. These types of events are very important for the industry as a whole. See you there spud.

That didn't take long for the heads to swell did it? Just a couple of years ago, they all preached that they just did it for the love of the sport. Now Monster, Red Bull and the other huge companies pony up some change and pleasing the crowd just isn't enough anymore. Kinda sucks, but that is the mindset of all professional athletes.

You said it "professional athletes". Meaning they get paid. Maybe they need to find some back country freestyle guys that would do it for free.

It's cool to watch for about 5 minutes, but I really don't think not having it is a big deal at all.

Same with HayDays, I really don't get my jollies watching the freestyle when there is so much else to do.

West startin to suck

just wait a year or three...

Seems as though last couple of years attendance is down, always blaming the weather one way or the other. When really it seems the COC is screwing it up! More businesses were closed last year and there were alot less vendors, probably pissed about high fees and low attendance. They were to "poor" to even print T-shirts last year! If I remember they had some falling out with the racers also?? Calcutta money? It's a shame group of 20 or so spent ALOT of money there last 10 yrs and no one is real interested in going this year.Used to make 3-4 day event out of it. Watch next year or so and won't be surprised if the Jackson Hillclimb becomes a better destination for "Expo" they want us

If you think these guys make big bucks, you are sadly mistaken. Far from it. They're out there practicing almost daily year round, you know what that costs? Fuel, ramp material, woodchips for landings, equipment rental to build the landing, non stop sled maintenance. Not to mention medical bills. For alot of guys this is their job and they need to make decent money just to break even. I say more power to them. $3000 a demo is peanuts.

They are getting way better at helping the races out. For the drag races, they are now having 100% payback, plus a $2000 added purse. They never had that before.

I don't think that their t shirts were that hot of a seller. You have to give them a chance to make it better.
