My Bro is selling a YZF 450, Has it out in frount of our shop, He is gone right now and someone just called about it and asks me " Has it ever been raced" We have heard this for years. Every bike we have ever sold someone will ask that. Does it matter?? I ride just as hard raceing or not so why does the word Race scare people?? Also from what I have seen 99% of the Bikes that are raced are taken better care of than the weekend riders ever do.

Has it been raced...LMFAO YUP!!!

.

I have wondered that myself. It's a catch 22.

A raced bike is likely to get serviced more often and have parts replaced as necc. However, it is likely to get some body abuse from contact. It could have some hidden weld cracks or bends.

A non-raced bike could easily be abused because it was not taken care of mechanically. Most of these people keep the bike clean, but probably don't check valves, shock springs, internal components, etc.

So...you could get a lemon or a prize either way.

Has it been raced? Yep, and it always took first. :D

I dunno why it's asked...I'm pretty sure my non raced bike is in the same shape as buds who race.

personally i wouldent take a bike unless it has been raced. just for the fact that its probably going to have about a grand into it for different parts depending on the class it raced like a cam, pipe, high comp piston. that and its got to have proven performance to race against other riders

race bikes/sleds are often require more tuning and ect. than a stocker. So if a person wants a pull/kick and go machine a race ready bike may not be a wise purchase. other than that I agree with all of the above.

"Wifes bike" is the next best one. Right. Sure. OK.

Those who posted before me have it right. A race bike will see much more maintenance and upkeep. Last thing I want to do is pay a couple hundred bux for a weekend race(fuel to get there, gate fees, race fees, etc) to then DNF over something mechanical I could have prevented.

"No some little ole lady just drove it to church"

I cant believe the questions or comments potential buyers will make....but have a gooder for yah.

I was selling this ole state truck a few years ago and these two guys come out to look at it and while one guy is pouring over the engine compartment and TASTED the oil ( I aint chittin) the other guy was out back taking a leak by the back of the truck near the exhaust and truck was running...(it was dark so no big deal and I live on a acerage) Then the engine guy shuts hood and walks around back and sees the wet spot on the gravel right below the tailpipe. He gets down on all fours and smells it!!!! Then tells me it must have a head gasket out!!! I was laughing purty hard when I told him the only gasket that was out was his buddies and he just smelled his pizz! I still LOL bout them two. BTW, they did buy it and left quickly.

too bad he didn't taste it also!!!!!!!!:D:D:D:D

I'd I had him lick it!!! It would have been worth not making the sale!!!

Has it been raced? My answer is not competively, has it been crashed, yea do I look that fast that it hasn't. Beeing honest has never caused a problem, the smart buyer knows raced toys are taken care of better than played with ones. The racer does not want failure of the machine because it could cost him money one of two ways. Injuries or winnings!
