97-01 700 and pre 02 800 are not VES motors. Just as info. Also in case you were planning on slapping an 800 topend on the 700 crank it won't work as the stroke is different. You could do 800 cyl and heads and hot seat or SLP 780 pistons and make a 780 but you'll spend more than buying a complete 800. Are you working on a Gen 2 chassis? If your working on an edge I have an 05 700 VES w/SLP pipe and can complete that I might be willing to part with. I also have a spare set of pistons and 1 cylinder along with SLP heads, VF3 reeds, Boondocker Nitrous and other goodies. PM if your interested.

Its a buddies sled. I was reading and heard those 700 and 800's were VES and interchangable, i gues who ever posted it screwed up. I am a ski-doo guy. I know nothing when it comes to poo.

It's more than that. The 800 cylinders won't fit onto the 700 case because the cylinder skirts are too wide. The 800 pistons also use a larger diamter wristpin.

You need a 98-00 700 motor. You could put a newer motor in but the exhaust flange angles are different and you might have to swap out some of the electronics.
