Wssa snow show How was it

snow show

I have been going to this show for the past 15 years atleast. The last few years have been a big let down. There was a noticeable lack of vendors this year and attendance was down. The two outdoor selling areas were half full this year and not a great showing in the blue lot either.

with that being said, there were some good deals to be had. Picked up a brand new 2017 polaris axys rmk 800 for $11k out the door. Considering used rmk's are going for about $10k, thought this was a steal.

I agree with TheHoneyBadger, no "Real" good deals on much of anything. Attendance was very poor, with vendor's and snowmobilers. Basically if it continues down this path, it's not worth the drive to pay the same prices you pay at your local dealer.

I 2nd that. I have already purchased everything for this season before the Snow Show but I like to get down there to see all the after market stuff. Well aftermarket was non existent. My back up sled would have been the most tricked out sled had it been inside the building. Mountain Tek was the only big company really on the roster and their booth was empty. The show was a complete waste except for the fact of running into some guys I know from up on the mountain. I walked around with a huge wad of cash in my pocket and the only money I spent was on a $10 going into the parking lot. :face-icon-small-con

Whom did you pick up the Axys from?

Thanks

Wasn't the utah snow show last weekend as well? Probably where all the companies were if that was the case.

Yep , SLP, KLIM, among others went to that one instead.
Arctic Cat did not even participate here. Not sure if they went to Utah or just are being themselves and not promoting their products, probably the latter.

Sing of the times , new sleds are to good , biggest mod now is a can . I am sure if Utah was not the same weekend there would of been more venders .We still had a good time as usual.

we drove up from portland. I-5 was terrible with the ruts and full of water. we bought 2. 509 carbon fiber helmets, but that was it. we weren't too impressed and the wife said she was never going back. probably go to Idaho or Spokane instead if we ever go again. wasn't really any deals there. could have been the weather too

I went to the Utah show this past weekend. Pretty good turnout on vendors and aftermarket but not as good as Puyallup used to be even 5 years ago. Utah had no swap meet whatsoever and unless it was last years closeouts all gear was full retail no deals at all! I went hoping to outfit my daughter and maybe a few smalls for me. I bought last years Klim hat for $20 and called it good. Ill wait for black Friday!

I went both days. While I agree there was less vendors and activity in the blue lots, I thought Saturday was pretty well attended. Sunday was more chill. Less crowds so you could walk around and talk with folks a little easier. But, alot of the people selling stuff had already sold it on Saturday. Basically, same thing that happens every year.

I was going to sell some stuff in the blue lot, but decided last minute to back out because of the predicted storms. I think a few others were in that boat.

I was talking with one of the vendors and thought he had a pretty good idea. He thought that Sunday was kind of a waste and maybe it'd be better to open up on Friday afternoon and have it go into the evening (like 9 or 10), then go all day Saturday. That way you get the folks that want to come in after work on Friday and you also get the people who want to do it on the weekend.

How can you go wrong with talking and looking at Snowmobiles all weekend. If you quite supporting it than it goes away! I agree it was disappointing that many of the aftermarket vendors were not there. Hopefully the Big aftermarket company's realize we buy there products also and it doesn't look good for them to post all the other shows they attended but blew off Puyallup! But hey on the bright side the SNOW IS FLYING!!

I really hope it turns the corner soon. As a business I haven't been there for two years, it just stop making since dollar wise. Im going to see if I can lend a hand next year and help out, it will take a big change to make it big again, but it can be done and would love to see it happen!

First year I haven't attended in years. Hunting season, bad weather, and lack of deals are making the show less of an event. Too bad. I've always loved going. I decided to go be outside instead and do some bird hunting. I'll come back next year and see what I can find.

SNOW SHOW ATTENDANCE WAS ACTUALLY UP THIS YEAR

all in all, it was a great show, I talked to lots of vendors who had killer sales at Puyallup, Yes we lost some vendors as Salt Lake was the same weekend, we hurt there show too, Lots of vendors were torn between which show to go to, Wont happen next year as Salt Lake changed their dates, We have to plan the Puyallup show years in advance as the fair grounds have something going nearly every weekend, Our attendance was up this year, More people on Saturday than both days last year, One thing good about Puyallup is people come to buy, thats what the vendors like, There were killer deals all over , you just had to look for them, As a vendor my self ( and a board member of the show ) it was great for us, I sold a lot of stuff,
Yes people are looking for deals, So if your trying to sell for full Retail, "it aint going to happen " I learned that years ago. No we didnt have the attendance we did 10 years ago, but as an Industry we've been on a down hill slide, It's not a cheep sport by any means, We just keep plugging on and doing our best to bring a good show to the North West. Most people have no idea what it takes to put on a show of this magnatude. Arctic cat was supposed to be there but did not show up. There loss I'm sure.

Snow Show

With a guy like Dan supporting it, I almost feel bad I did not go. My main reason for not going is all my friends have stopped sledding. Another reason is no one on this forum was hyping it as in years past.

First year in many we haven't attended a snow show too. Other obligations this year, but it's become more for just hanging out than seeing new stuff and good deals.
Last year, deals were non existent for what we were looking for. (New gear for the kids) and the snowbike mfg turnout was also non existent.
Glad to hear attendance was up this year and hope it continues to climb. Gotta remember, most of us on here are pretty seasoned and less impressed maybe than newer sledders.
Dan, thanks for what you do for the show....and the industry.
