Wrecked M8-bent tunnel

I bent the tunnel on my 07 M8 last weekend and am trying to decide what to do with it. Should I let the insurance company have it or put a new tunnel on it? How hard is it to replace a tunnel? Has a ported engine by RS and some goodies so it's hard to let it go. If anyone is interested in it please send me a PM.

So they are totaling your sled with only a bent tunnel? I personally would just buy a new aftermarket tunnel or 09 tunnel. Maybe see if they woudl let you buy it back if you really want to claim it. If it just the tunnel you will come out ahead most likely if you can install it yourself.

Tunnel

I bent the tunnel on my 07 M1000 and replaced it with an 08 tunnel. The work was pretty easy but I do recommend an air riveter(about 200 rivets). Let me know if I can help

Suprised they'e totaling it for a bent tunnel. Bent the bulkhead and tunnel, also ripped off part of the plastic under the clutches on my M7. Insurance company told me to get an estimate from the dealership. Then they came out to take a look at it and cut a check. My brother and i fixed it ourselves and made out about $1900 ahead.

Put a VanAmburg under it! If you just want to wash your hands of it get ahold of me maybe I would be. Then I'll put one under it and ride! Good luck.:)

An aftermarket tunnel is worth it!! for what the ywill give you for the sled talk them into just buying a tunnel instead. Talk them into spending the $3000 (parts and labor). This is cheaper than replacing your sled for them. Even do it it yerself, its takes alot of time but its fun and a good learning experience. I didnt have a clue!!! You'll be scared but it will turn out!! Take pics as you take it apart. Heres 2 pics of my switch. C not to bad.........

just replace it yourself. it is not that expensive from cat. or like others have said, an aftermarket tunnel. it is not that hard. hardest part is popping all the rivets if you do it manually. man, if i was closer i would buy it from you.

I replaced the back end of my 08 with 09 stuff. What a huge difference it made not dragging all that extra crap though the snow made. Problem with doing that is the time it took for cat to get all the parts. They came in a piece at a time and not when they promised. How long does it take to get an aftermarket tunnel I don't know? At this point in the season I would let them total it and get a new 09. I have a 07 M8 and the 09's are a huge update. JMO.

You've already contacted your insurance agent so the claim as been filed... but like others have said. Replace it yourself, it's not that bad and you can update it to an aftermarket tunnel or 09 Cat fairly easy.
