16wr450 Looking for different ideas for the snowbike intake. Building the first one. Not a fan of exposed pod.

Wrap cage with pre filter.

Add weatherstripping under edge of cage.

Pre filter intake horns.

Drill holes in the cover (1/8”) on a grid pattern.

Works better than the hidden pod filter. Which Ices up without the stock air horn from steam off the motor.

This setup is quieter than an exposed pod.

What pre filter material are you using? Outerwear, frog skins, etc?

Slp fabric

Oh yeah I drilled the grid pattern on the bottom and insides of the airbox horns. (Less noise)

Then i got worried it wouldn’t be enough air and drilled holes in the top before taking it out for a ride.
So maybe someone could get away with only the bottom holes?

Haha too late for me. :)

From my experience that did not work very well for me. The powder snow filled up the air box and packed full. So i took the bottom rubber boot part of the air box out. Completly gutting it down the the throttle body. Then i used a 1 1/2 rubber coupling and a 1 1/2 abs st. 45 plumbing fitting. Then used a turbo style pod with a prefilter. Any snow that gets in just falls out the bottom. The engine heat keeps any ice from building up and it is all contained under the cover for a stock look. All for under 50 bucks.

That's very similar to what I did. PC Racing Flo shroud air filters keeps the snow out of the stock intake pieces.
