WOW

And you see, this is why i didnt put pictures up in the first place, because i knew everyone would just say they werent on correctly. Obviously thats not where the collar belongs, it somehow slid down. Have you ever had a bandaid fall off? Because this one did.

Don't sweat all of sexual-intellectual keyboard engineers on here.

If the collar / clamp slid then it was not tight enough. Which would indicate either out of tolerance to begin with, either a machining error or design error. Insufficient torque at installation or with the goofy wings of the RKT design, it requires constant re-torqueing due to clamp load stresses and bending of the wings. Whereas the others clamps are circular in nature and the hoop stresses are contained internally in the clamp structure, minimizing any bending moments and eliminating the necessity to re-torque.

Sorry for your loss, hope the rest of your season goes better.

Looks to me like the happy face collar would be a better option, because if it is trying to work down the shaft like this one did, theres will not.The wrap around design on the end cap would prevent that.

RE: Failure with clamp

This unfortunate failure of driveshaft with a clamp installed is a good <O:p</O:p
example of the shortcomings of the single screw un flanged designs that <O:p</O:p
allow the clamp to migrate and rely on only one screw per side I personally <O:p</O:p
am far less concerned about a questionable denial of warranty than P.I.T.A. and danger associated with a failure<O:p</O:p

Here's a wild guess , the driveshaft tube is flexing with the torque from the belt and the drivers .Squirming back and forth walking the clamp in the same direction of the rotation of the track ? Maybe it's the picture but put a straight edge on that driveshaft ? It looks like it's bowed where the drivers are ?

It looks like the damage was done prior to the collars going on. Also the clamp doesn’t look like it has a lip to prevent it from walking. Just because it was torqued doesn’t mean anything regarding it sliding. It has to do with the properties of the bolt itself. Think the combo of prior damage and a quick band aid both played a roll in this one failing<O:p</O:p

so is that the rkt collar? first pic i have seen of that one. the happy face collar looks pretty superior to others including the polaris one.

I think you're exactly right! A lot of force on the shaft from the QD.

I didn't mean the bad rep, fat fingered on the phone. I was going for thx.

I was going to point out this too.... As loudhandle said

I'm guessing you missed this post when you claim he didn't ride without collars installed when in fact he did ride 20 miles as stated.

It was an aftermarket collar. But in my mind there all pretty much the same thing and serve the same purpose. And i put about 20 miles on the sled before the collars were installed, either way this is pathetic.

That clamp looks like a joke..should have used the polaris clamp. Total different design.would say your shaft faild because you chose to use a different clamp. So you get what you got. Sorry some joker made a buck off you.

I don't think the poo clamp has a lip either.
Poo should have made a deal with happy face.
Hopefully an isolated incident.
