tore down the 08 700 that burned down, mentioned in this thread:
http://www.snowest.com/forum/showthread.php?t=370217

there is 2 dings as seen circled as well as some other light scuffing near the outer ding. dealer said smooth it out with a little emery cloth and run it. would you? or should a see if I can find a take off or aftermarket?

a few other pics of the damage. cant really figure out what caused this. happened in the parking lot when switching from reverse to forward. looks like the ring broke at the front of the cylinder. 2 pieces of the ring were in the pipe, one as pictured was sitting on top of the piston and a tiny piece was stuck in one of those small dings in the head.

Clean it up like your dealer told you, IMHO it'll run.

thanks guys, that is what I figured but just wanted to double check. how do I go about making sure nothing got into the case? I was very careful to not drop anything in there during the disassembly process but could any small pieces of the ring or piston worked there way down there?

Possibly, I used to dump mixed gas down into the case and then blow it out with compressed air. Repeat until your confident there's nothing in there. Might take a few times if your ocd like me. :face-icon-small-hap
