Would drop brackets help after sliding skid back?

I'm wondering if I should install a set of drop brackets on my summit since I slid the rear skid back. I moved it back to run a 163"from a 159" and by doing so it did lower the tunnel a bit and I'm thinking that it might be a good idea. Not looking to raise the tunnel 3" or anything just an inch or inch@half. I know I would probably have to loosen the limiter straps a bit but don't want to make the steering heavy. Has anyone tried this or is it better to just leave it alone? Thanks
 
I would try it as it is. The sleds Ive been around that traveled the best in the deep have all been low slung, not jacked up. Moving the skid back puts more weight on the skis and drop brackets would add to this even more.
 
When I move my skids back I maintain the same distance between the front and rear suspension mounting bolts as stock. So when I move the front bolt back 3.5" or so I move the rear back the same amount. The hard part is figuring how much to also drop the rear down as the tunnel angles up. If I didn't do that there would likely be to much weight carried by the front arm of the skid and not enough on the rear. Pretty sure it will wheely a lot more as the whole sled will pivot off the front arm of the skid, skis up tail down and may just like to keep going that way.

My 08 XP TNT that started life as a 120 and now has a 15 X 141 X 2.25
with a dry weight of 365lbs.
 
Thanks guys I think im going to pass on the brackets. One more quick ? does it really make a difference if you swap the right@left ski's?
 
The narrow setting will let the sled lean over faster for better side hilling--but--the OEM skis are sub-par and should be replaced asap. I just installed take-off Pol Grippers and rear tortion spring bushings and the sled has a new life.

It's been a while since I was moving things around but:
If you want to keep sled to stock handling as much as possible-- I set up on level floor BEFORE I start, measure length from rear skid bolt @ mount to bolt @ ski center mount. Measure to floor for vertical measurement on rear mounting bolt & front skid bolt center. What I look for is to keep the ratio the same as stock if I want to stay there, ratio being the numbers @ front bolt center versus the rear for the length. When you're done the skid will naturally sit at the same angle as stock. If you start going up and or down with the front & or the back>>>>> for every action there's a reaction!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
ALL revs benefit from a little higher backend..
use XP drop brackets...easy/cheap and the right length
don't move skid back...bad
add big wheel/offset axle or get longer rails...add stiffer rear springs too
set limiter so it barely wiggles on flat ground (after all mods)...hit the hill and adjust from he "neutral" starting point...

or call me...have done hundreds of these...just saying...BJ
 
The torsion spring bushings act to stiffen the springs and added 1/2" clearance above the 8" wheel with a 11XP 154" x 2.4" track without moving the skid.
