Would anyone use a vtwin Aprillia MXV for a snowbike?

I'm looking for a new bike that will be used next year as a snowbike.

Does anyone have any experience with the Aprillia MXV bikes they are vtwins with loads of power and options, however they are not one of the major brands in the sport. The street models they are known for a scary fast.

Was wondering how they do in the cold or any other issues you may have liked or disliked?

thanks for input.

We have joked about this several times. Might be very sweet set-up. V-twin should be smooth and I know they have HP

I have thought about this setup also, if you do it let us know how well it works ;)

why not, those bikes have plenty of power and rev.Im sure you could get a fit kit made.would sound awesome for sure.Do it!

I was thinking the new KTM 1190 adventurer would be awesome. A 150hp v-twin. If only weight didn't matter.

Well I might get the experiment going

There are few of these overstocked from 09 that are going for a great price, didn't see anyone chime in that it was a terrible idea.

I'm going down to the dealer tomorrow to check them out more thoroughly, I'll definitely be back posting with an update if I get one going. Decided to dump the sled and go all bike.

I think j&l snowhawk tried one. Never heard anything or saw any videos. Maybe it wasn't the ideal setup. Hopefully he chimes in.

I would like to try a zx10r, or R1, gsxr1000

with a dirtbike front fork, 180-190HP with a 153-162x2.5"

not my fav.

i did the sxv550 with st kit. love the bike in the summer but didnt feel it was the most usable in winter for few reasons.

very hard to start unless in heated enviroment. way worse than other mx bikes by far. I installed a battery that was twice the stock size.

I installed .54 or .52kg springs in forks and were still very soft. I realize you are looking mxv but believe most claim those are still to soft on dirt so you will need to spend the money on fork springs and a supercross valve job to get this bike to balance like it should.

air box is ok when swiss cheesed and prefilterd untill deep pow day then snow just packes in frame up against air box untill it chokes out enough to run rich and make low power.

prolly other things i dont recall at moment.
starters burn out very easy in summer and way worse off in cold!!!

big thanks snowhawk !!

Those are some seriously valid points. I think I'll go with something that already works and skip this idea. Too bad the specs on paper look good.

I wondered how long it would take before I would see that....:)

That's a very interesting question because the purpose of a dirt bike kit was intended to be light and now a long track weighs as much as a sled .

So if you keep going bigger why don't you get one that is designed from the ground up to do it ? Sorry I'm not trying to be a smart a$$
