So as everyone knows Northern California and Southern Oregon have a massice storm coming in, now their is rumors of it being a world record snow storn at Mt. Shasta, could be recieving over 218" in 4 Days which is 18'+ of snow!!!

Check out the article: http://www.b.weather.com/news/weather-winter/mount-shasta-snow-extreme-20121129

Here is a snippet of weather outlook, yes this is at restricted area so no you cannot ride this part, calculate over 218":

Un-rideable, probably. Good to stare out? YUP! :face-icon-small-ton

We'll see....

Every time I hear the media/weather guys make a huge deal out of something (other than hurricanes), it usually comes up quite a bit short of expectations.

You're welcome! Our massive high pressure's have pushed all the moisture way down south right to you.

That makes me so excited. I live just outside of lassen Park which is pretty darn close. It is pouring rain here now but can only imagine what the mountains up high will look like after this.

sledding above 9800 ft should be pretty good that is for sure. It will suck below though with all the rain expected

I live right here in Mt. Shasta, no snow at all yet 47 degrees and pouring rain at 3500 ft it is snowing at around 8000 fee up on the mountain but only about 2-3' so far, we have a couple snowmobile parks and lots of other spots to go!

So ... where can you ride around Shasta?

Lots of areas to ride but unfortunately they're all below the snow line right now:censored::face-icon-small-sad:

This weather forecast is at 12,000' elevation, the highest we can ride before hitting the wilderness boundary is 10,000'. The highest point we can trailer to is about 7,000' and that currently only has 26" and getting rained on right now. Most of the good riding around here is done between 4,500' and 8,500'.

Looks like I'll have plenty of water for the kayak!!

Off topic but what kind of looks do you get trucking the Mountain sled through LA traffic :face-icon-small-coo

Since it is rare to see a snowmobile in Los Angeles ...

Younger people will give me a thumbs up or a honk and people with not in my back yard (attitude) are quite different. (But why focus on the negative)

A sled can cause traffic jams cause people will slow down to take a picture or the best is people coming up to me (gas station / parking lot) and ask how it floats, since they are thinking what kind of jetski.

I definitely NEVER leave my sled alone in a public parking space.

Over time I have had at least a hundred people I know fly/drive off ride a sled then go buy one afterwards ... of course those are the ones who appreciate the environment and use vehicles to to be close to mother nature.

From downtown Los Angeles groomed trailes are 3 hours away.

Haha, I can relate. Took the sleds with when I get xferred to Phoenix (hence the name AZ800, not enuff snow, but I found SNOWEST!). Got pulled over by DPS on the 101 coming into town, 1st trip down with the wife and baby, 3 dogs in the back of the truck. I thought "oh shat" must be illegal to have dogs in the truck bed or no trailer plates, etc, I'm busted for someting. Cop hadn't seen sleds in 10 years ans just stopped me to check them out and welcome me to AZ!
Constantly had people walking by the house ask me what kind of jet skis those were in the garage. I usually responded "the kind that you can't stop in the middle of the lake on."

In regards to the huge dump coming to Shasta, yeah un-rideable. Went upto Chama NM one night from Albuquerque when we lived there. Big snow statewide. So much d@mn snow I couldn't see pulling into the snopark on the mtn and augered the truck into the fresh pile pushed up by the plow! Had to unload, unhook the trailer to get the truck out.
Never got more than 1/4 mi from the truck that day, burnt about 3/4tank of gas in both machines and only put on about 10 mi on the odo I think. It was fun to do once, but I'll stick to 3-4' of fresh not 8'+. ........................

LOL that is funny. I picked up my snowmobile from Wyoming during the Sturgis rally. We stopped in spearfish to eat at Mcdonalds and there were more people around my sled than the awesome bikes in the lot. A lot of people had never seen a mountain sled before and were amazed by the size of the track(its only a 155 too).

I grew up in Cali (Santa Clarita) and never snowmobiled just everything else and now I live in Minnesota and I got into snowmobiling and now I drive 15 hours to sled in the mts....FAIL....lol

hope you guys get the snow and get to ride it...one day ill make it back there and ill to be in LA traffic with a sled on a sled deck I can't even imagine the looks... hell I would have been one of the lookers 4 yrs ago

Most of the time a dumping of that magnitude (8feet) is not uncommon in California at 9000 feet plus once a season ... BUT it melts away a week later from the 60F 80MPH winds.

When it doesn't melt it is wierd in a town where you enter the house from the 2nd story window.
I've been in 8 too much fluff on the shaddy shide and it sucks trying to get out.
