Working a deal on a snowcheck?

I'm getting ready to go in to the dealer today to snowcheck a new Pro. Have any of you have been able to talk them down on price, or do you end up paying full MSRP on these babies...?
 
No one should pay MSRP for anything! There are just too many options out there these days unless it's a limited run or a hot ticket. The Pro is niether. You do have to let your dealer make a profit however if they are a good dealer that will take care of you when sh!t hits the fan.
 
you shouldnt have to pay full MSRP. Call around to other dealers in your area and come in with other options. Make them compete for your business.
 
Remember, when snowchecking a sled, you don't have the same leverage as you would with a machine the dealer has sitting on the showroom floor. He has to sell the sled sitting on the floor, he doesn't have to bend over for a snowcheck. Work with the dealer that has the best customer service after the sale.
 
You should pay less than MSRP for a snowcheck. Dealer can do some easy math and figure out what money he will make with very little risk on his part. You're probably going to pay the most for a new sled in December and the least in March and soemwhere in the middle snowchecking.
 
Below MSRP is what they should be, just how much depends on them. When I snowcheck with my dealer, they usually treat me pretty good as far as the sled but they also offer a 10% to 15% discount on all accessories ordered with the new sled. Not a lot but it can definitely add up.
 
A year ago was my first snowcheck and it was a good learning experience.
To me it only makes sense that you should get the best deal. It's an automatic sale for the dealer. No carrying costs, just some paperwork, setup sled and out the door.
For pricing, I paid a fair bit below MSRP, and have never seen my sled on sale cheaper than my original deal.
It's nice to use your local dealer for the service aspect, but it don't hurt to call around for pricing, to keep them honest.
Some might throw in some extra accs or belt, oil, etc. Some charge admin fees, PDI, but some don't. Every dealer does it a little different.

For me the other nice about snow checking one is the warranty offered or $600 in accessories, I'll take the warranty.
 
I snowchecked. Before I signed the contract I talked to 3 dealers. I went with the one who seemed the most knowledgeable and service oriented and I let him know what the other dealers had offered. He didn't beat the best price but he came real close and then offered 10% off everything extra ordered with the sled including 10% off the e-start. I saved about a thousand bucks or so.

I agree with the post above. It's a no-brainer for the dealer so he should be willing to dicker on the price.

Oh and for those of you who haven't done it yet you CAN get the 4 year warranty and the 0% interest for 12 months. They are not mutually exclusive as some people thought. It's kind of a weird process though. You have to apply and be accepted by a third party - Sheffield Financial - in order to get the 0% financing. And you have to be accepted before April 23rd. I tried to do it online and ended up just calling them ( I couldn't get my address to meet their data standards). I was accepted in about 30 minutes.
 
know exactly what you want before you get there, try to know as much or more about these sleds than the salesperson, bring lots of cash. Buying a sled outright, and not trading something in and bringing cash and/or check are your best tools to get the best price under MSRP.
 
Thanks for all the helpful responses! I went to the dealer I thought has the best service (from past experience with my older sled). I paid a little more than some of the other dealers I got prices from, but it sounds like they do a very extensive set-up with the clutches and stuff...

Now I just have to wait another 5 months or so for it to show up :wacko:

Like others have said know what surrounding dealers are charging and go from there. I paid a little more to get a dealer with great service! And paying cash or financing isn't going to matter the dealer gets the money either way.
 
What is MSRP on the 163"? I really liked that orange one. I was quoted $11,800 for that one.
Ended up going with the XM, and it was a little cheaper. Didn't even ask what retail was though. I've never paid any where close to MSRP on a snocheck though. I know with Skidoo, they pust sleds down the dealers throats, and make them sell so many every year. That's why there willing to come down on the price.

Today is Pierre's Polaris Snow-check event and they are offering $200 off the msrp, (plus free food & drinks) which isn't a whole lot, but like I mentioned, it sounds like they really go the extra mile for the set up of the sled...

I think you are doing up right thing, find a dealer that will go to battle for you on warranty work. Remember a good dealer will save you a lot more in warranty work/parts then the few hundred bucks you will save on the snow check. You hear all these stories of dealers not wanting to work with people. I bet a lot of those people are ones that went in to a local dealer without any kind of relationship and insisted the dealership sell it for cost, so little or money the dealer would make.

Service is the #1 concern in my book, for sure. After talking with John at Pierre's, he really seems to know a lot about the issues with the sleds and what should be done to fix/prevent any problems.

Pierre's did their set-up on my 11 Pro, When the warranty was up I went back to trade in the 11 on a 12 Pro.

I ended up purchasing a 12 Pro, and 13 Pro from John within 5 months. He is one of the better local dealers but never really offers any discounts not even on accessories. He will treat ya good when you need service or have any issues. Pretty tough market in the great NW/WA state thats for sure.
