Work and play bed

I'm getting ready to buy a new truck and it will pull triple duty as my work, play and daily driver. I haven't decided on what truck I'm getting but it will be a 3500-5500 dually. I'm interested in boxes with plenty of storage for tools but I'd also like to haul sleds or my razr. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1444974030.710296.jpg

Has anyone modified a box like the pronghorn 9000ut or norstar sd to be able to haul 2 sleds?

My thought was building some sort of mini sled deck insert and placing super glides on top of the fender tool boxes, just interested if anyone has done anything similar.

I'm a excavation contractor need storage for hotsaw, tools, laser etc.
The silverlake bed is nice there's just not enough storage and the boxes aren't large enough for some of the bigger items I carry.

Wonder if you could get them to not go above flush with the front 2 boxes on the Pronghorn, then it would be easy to put a deck on top of that.

Or maybe easier yet, just build a slide in deck with the corners cut out to be flush with the tops of the 2 front corner boxes.

Could probably even modify a deck built for a regular pickup, then you'd have all the sled goodies on there, and maybe one stop shopping?

My thought too was to build some sort of partial deck, I'm sure I can get something to work just wondering if anyone else has something similar.

At first glance the partial deck seems like a good idea until you look at the pics and realize you are either going to drive over the tool box doors or manhandle the sleds / skis over the lids.

If I were fabricationlly challenged; I would buy a full width sled bed and modify (have modified) the legs to incline it from just above your tailgate to where it clears the tool box lids, and let the rest run to where it needs to. The angle won't be ridicules, should be fairly mild, allowing a low load height similar to the beaver tail decks.

If you chose to have something custom made, extending the beaver tail to where you maintain toolbox door clearances, would fit the truck well and still allow access to the front upper tool boxes without catching too much air and road grime.

Just some random thoughts for you, my $0.02
